Do you carry...

Without safety do you carry loaded or unloaded

I know this has been discussed ad infinitum so I thought I would just add to the clutter.

Being new to Glocks and having always owned auto pistols that had a hammer safety or trigger safety this is a new experience for me. Revolvers are a different story as they take a little more effort to get the hammer to fall.

I know the real safety is your trigger finger.

Just curious about the results. I imagine that they will be close to 100% carry. As no one wants to risk the time it would take to load the chamber in a life or death situation.

I carry mine empty with my magazines in my wife's purse. That way after we've discussed the mugging we are taking part in, we can make a mutual decision on whether we should resist. If we decide that we should in fact meet violence with violence it's a simple enough thing to ask the muggers for a time out for weapons readying.

The the mugger may find all this a bit strenuous and emotionally draining. You may consider finding him a safe place; seek out some counseling, in order to help him cope with all the stresses involved with trying to steal your money. Remember, the mugger is the victim here. So have a good day and don't forget to hug the tree.

Perhaps when getting accustomed to carrying a firearm, C3 may be more comfortable. But with time, experience and confidence, C1 becomes more appropriate.

Abundant talk picks at the perimeter of the matter; threat risk, awareness, ample time to respond, etc. but the matter can be distilled to confidence in 1) the mechanics of the firearm and 2) oneself.

OP, seems like you understand the subject and are just looking for poll numbers out of curiosity; cool. My comments below are not directed to you...

That said, it always amazes me that there are folks that will carry a gun without a round in the chamber. That, in my opinion is just plain dangerous and stupid. If you are not competent/confident enough to carry a gun with a round in the chamber, do everyone a favor and just don't carry the darn thing!! The bad guy will seriously not wait for you to get your **** together first in order to shoot him!

Carrying a Glock is the same as carrying any other firearm. Don't put your finger on the trigger until know what your shooting and you are prepared to destroy what is in the path of that bullet. Don't pull a gun unless you are in imminent fear of grievous bodily injury or death. Having to switch off a safety, or pull a long heavy trigger, or short light trigger has nothing to do with this calculus.

Carrying a gun is big boy/girl business. People need to get training and/or practice if they need it. Carrying a gun is really not for everyone.

Very simple. Dont carry if your not keeping one in the chamber. If you have not trained enough to have confidence in your ability to carry you are just putting others at risk. Train , train and then take more training. Carrying a gun just to say you carry does you no good unless you are ready to react if you have to

Guns are dangerous. And putting something on them that's called a "Safety" doesn't make them safe. A 1911 is a single action gun and the thumb safety is actually a hammer lock and release devise. a Glock is essentially a DA Only gun and doesn't need such a device.

A Glock does not need a safety any more than a DA revolver does. Yes, a revolver has a heavier trigger pull so The NYPD made the Glock trigger pull heavier but that just made the gun more difficult to shoot accurately.

The Glock factory trigger pull is the right balance between safety and functionality. The more you shoot your Glock the better the trigger pull will feel to you.

Man...no way. A loaded chamber in anything but a 1911 is a death trap! When carrying plastic, take the magazine out, unload it, put the loose rounds into your pocket and the magazine in your magazine pouch. When you need to shoot, simply remove a magazine from the pouch, load it from the loose rounds in your pocket, insert it into your Glock, rack the slide, fire as necessary, then remove the magazine, rack the slide to clear the chamber and unload the magazine, putting the loose rounds back into your pocket and replace the magazine into the pouch. Only in this way can a Glock be carried safely.

Once you completely understand the way the Glock safeties work, you will feel better about carrying with one in the chamber.

Glock is a partially cocked striker design. The only way for me to carry it is with a round in the chamber. Anything else could take too long in the unlikely event I ever need to use it.

Once you fully understand how a Glock works, you should feel much more comfortable. The gun cannot fire without the trigger being pulled unless at least two of the safeties fail at once AND the gun has a sudden movement or impact strong enough for the inertia of the firing pin to ignite the primer. In other words the odds of an AD/ND are about the odds of hitting the powerball unless you snag the trigger on something which can and will fire a round. Choosing a good holster, clothes that are difficult to get snagged in the trigger guard, and following the finger off the trigger fundamental safety rule are all the worry you need to have with a Glock.

I advocate carrying chamber loaded. I feel if you're not comfortable with a Glock chamber loaded, there a lot of great other pistols out there that offer an additional level of safety, that might serve you better.

The biggest problem with chamber empty is, what if you're in a scuffle and can't get both hands free?

That being said, some of the comments posted about empty chamber carry are a bit absurd, but admittedly, a few were kind of funny.

To me the only way to carry a glock is in a good holster, with a full mag, and a round in the chamber.
On my person, or in my truck, my Glock is loaded.
Sometimes, I am going into places that I cannot carry a pistol. Rather than just putting it under the seat or in a console, I use one of those "Lock Boxes" with a cable under the seat.
I know that it is not a very good situation, but it is better than nothing. It was given to me, I may as well use it.

Carry condition 0 for me, always. I agree with Bac and Bucky. I feel that your EDC is merely a club without one in the chamber.
