So, if you are buying “seconds” with some higher risk of not going bang ……. What are you going to use them for? Range only?
So ….. prime powder…… prime (ish) brass, Prime Bullets, and seconds for Primers that means the whole cartridge is now a second. Doesn’t seem like a good trade off.
The range is exactly what I use them for. I can't speak for others but I try to keep my "range" or training ammo as cost effective as possible. I hardly ever use "prime" components for the range. Several times fired brass, seconds primers, reclaimed powder (or whatever the term is), and pulled bullets. If I can't get pulled bullets then I'll use poly coated lead but that's about as prime as I get.

Now ammo for a USPSA or other pistol match, hunting, or other more serious uses, I'll use more reliable components. But for blasting away at the range, I'll deal with a few malfunctions. Gets me a few "live" reps clearing malfunctions anyway.

Trust me though, if I could afford prime components 100% of the time, then I would. But I can't for the volume I shoot.

Thanks for the information

I bought some of their factory second large rifle primers a while back. They had roughly the same warning and advertised the same chance of failure to ignite, specifically in colder climates. I received mine and they were in a white, generic packaging ect and that was about it. Upon closer inspection I found the individual 100 round packages had White River Energetics stamped in them so that lead me to believe that was the origin of the primers.

Of the 5000 that I bought I have probably loaded and shot half if not more. Not a single issue whether I have used them in my .243 for prairie dogs, and if my other loadings to include 7.5 Swiss, .308/8mm/.30-06/ 54R ect, or running them in reloads through belt feds. I would try their small pistol primers without concern.

I believe this was warning message when i bought.
Copied this from another website post.

had a 0.1% chance of not firing and to not use in cold weather.
Upon further research, they are from the new White River Energetics company here in the US.

They say 0.01% (1 in 10,000) have a low charge of priming compound and are not recommended for low temperatures.

I won't buy them again because better primers came on the market at lower price shortly after.
So there was no savings and i never had any ammo problems using ginex

What I really wanted to know about are the "factory seconds" primers. Seems a very good price.
If you make something that is substandard but want to lose the least amount of money, without trashing your reputation, you drop your brand name and ditch them or sell them as "seconds". They are cheaper because you expect them to be of lower quality or at least you should.

Same as pulled bullets, once they ruin them, they don't want to upset a guy that wants to buy something decent so they sell them to people that don't care about the quality of the product at a reduced price to minimize loss.

I also ordered 5k of the factory seconds SPP on 5/29 and like tbone2, I haven't heard anything about shipping yet. I'll give them a few more days before I contact them to see what is happening.
I ordered 10K of them, they did ship my MRE’s but after a week with no tracking, I messaged them to see if I could upgrade from the factory 2nds to Winchester SPP, they said no problem just pay us another $115. That puts me in Winchester SPP for 4.5 cents. I’m good with that at this point (if I ever get them). I also bought 2K of their 115 grain .355 pulls they were 40% off, that puts me at 3.9 CPR, I have kids (who like to shoot) to sort through them if there are a lot of crappy ones. If I’m making 9mm for $10/100 I think that’s pretty good. I’ll report back later.

Factory Seconds – Nickel Plated – May contain visual defects, no effect on performance – Tall primer may result in hang up on primer feeding devices, no effect on performance – Hard Primer, could result in very low frequency misfires (NATO Spec)

Don't know about NATO spec small pistol primers made in America, but I have used Servicios y Aventuras NATO primers (normally $45 per K). "Tall" primers, whatever that means, if there is no effect on performance, I would say they may not feed well in auto filling primer devices, like the Dillon RF 100. You can always put in a 6lb firing pin spring if you get light strikes, although them most common cause is high primers (not completely seated). =

At $38 per K delivered, probably well worth a try. Don't know they get by without HazMat.
In primer shortages, (VA tech, Sandy hook, Hong Kong fluy)I’ve used CCI 450’s and no problems. Even if you don’t like the primers, jsut sit on them. You’ll still get $100/K for them next time the oligarchs need to invent a pandemic or other emergency. They will be good for barter.

Yea but if you are using pulled bullets and bulk powder factory 2nd primers and making 9mm for 7.5CPR, I can think of a lot of uses for that ammo. If I was a serious competitor no, but for the weekend run n gun I think it’s great, probably wouldn’t put that in my EDC either

I got a shipping notice on Wednesday but package still hasn't been tendered to FedEx.
yea, the whole operation seems very "kitchen table" but the deals seem to be great values and I don't think he's ripping anyone off.
I did order 2K of the 115 .355 TMJ RN pulls. @ 3.9CPR I'm hopeful I can get them to run. If they do yrn, I'll kick myself for not buying 10K of them at less than 1/2 the price of plated on sale.

When I first started ordering from them years ago things seemed to ship quickly. I'm thinking as they've gotten more business some things are falling through the cracks. Hopefully they can get it all worked out and keep offering the low prices to the consumers. I see FedEx hasn't picked up my package eithe by the way. The waiting game continues....
