That said, it was never designed to be a connoisseur's weapon, and as a cheap-to-manufacture, high capacity, simple, serviceable handgun, it's not bad.[/QUOTE]

Somebody should have let the guys in HK's marketing dept. know that. At $600 MSRP, it was more than twice the price of a Colt 1911 in the '70's.

we had one where I used to work. it was new in the box and had a red holster stock with the switch.

They were $600 in the '70s?!?! :wow:

I wouldn't pay that in 2010 dollars.

On a different note...I have to question why the barrel was designed as a "blowby"? No question that this was designed as a machine pistol, with a cyclic rate of 2,200rpm no less!! As such, it would have been designed around(most likely)high pressure NATO spec sub-gun ammo, so it could be fed the same diet as the existing MP5's,etc. Being fed the hotter ammo, the velocities would most likely have been in line with standard pistol ammo, taking into consideration the % of velocity lost between the barrel surface and bullet jacket. It would also allow it to run slightly cooler during extended firing. Just thinking out loud here....
