I was curious if it stood for Police Department. Or does that signify something else, or perhaps nothing at all? Thanks.
I have one from Nashville Metro PD. It's serial number was MN****PD . in that type of sequence. I think Glock will do that for big purchases such as Nashville Police Dept and so on.

Interesting. The prefix on mine is IM. I assume that's short for a police department. Maybe something Metro. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department?? Just a guess. Anyone know?

Mentioned this before but my Gen 4 Glock 17 has the serial number prefix "ACME". Was actually on the fence about buying it, until I saw the label on the side of the box.

Typically if its a department special order, it will also have department markings on it.

Glock will do special numbers. Mid 2000s, my Agency bought 22.4s to replace our "old" 22.3s. The SN used was a random 3 letter prefix plus your 4 digit ID number and the slides were engraved with the agency name and emblem.
