I gave my G21sf a 25cent trigger job.
I noticed no improvement.
I tested my G26 trigger pull against my
G21sf trigger pull and the G26 was much
lighter.
I then read up on this controversial trigger
bar bump and decided to file it off and then
polish it.
This bump removal significantly lightened
the trigger pull and the 45 runs
with no issues.
I'm very pleased.

I filed the bump off a Gen 4 G17 for the exact reasons stated by rong.The pull lightened but I saw that the trigger bar now contacted the firing pin safety plunger along the edge of the plunger and the plunger also rotated as contact was made. Did not look good to me for proper function. What I now do with Gen 4 Glocks with the bump is to polish the bump and also the area that the bump contacts on the silde. Bring this area to a mirror finish, apply a bit of oil or grease (dry fire a bunch) and I think you will see a much smoother operation. I did anyway.

I had the exact same experience on my G36. $.25 did nothing and filing the bump down about 2/3s of the way took about a lb. off my trigger pull, with absolutely no effect on function.
 
Last i read somewhere, the purpose of that bump is to prevent the actual trigger bar from bending during the trigger pull cycle. The bump structure redistributes the forces. And keeps a more uniform contact against the face of the firing safety pin.

Personally i'd rather counteract the slight increase in trigger pull with a simple connector replacement. I recently put a dot connector in my 21sf and can feel the improvement.
 
Measure the trigger pull, change to a trigger/trigger bar without the bump and measure again. There Will Not be a 1# reduction in the trigger pull. Your best bet is to polish and lubricate as already stated.
 
So, not owning a 4th Gen Glock, I am assuming that the trigger bar has a new geometry and the gun's trigger pull is somehow "improved" (reduced pull weight) by filling it off of, or nearly so, the trigger bar?

I was thinking about getting one, but if I've gotta become involved in what I think might be called "advanced tinkering" to get the gun to run correctly, I may be outta the market on this one.

Makes me glad that I have a couple of 3rd Gens in the safe.

The bump was allegedly added (according to a Glock Factory Armorer) to be certain that the trigger bar rise stays centered under the firing pin safety. Sometime after this was done, the trigger pull was deemed to be heavier than the Gen3s so the dot (.) connector was introduced to compensate for the increased pull (by about 1/2 lb.)

The wide-body major caliber Glocks have always had the bump because with the increased width, it was considered that the trigger bar always had a greater chance of not engaging the firing pin safety.

The bump isn't the only thing that changed in the new trigger bars.

Thanks for squaring me away on that. Man, there have been a lot of changes- almost too many to keep up with!

Yes, this is what it is supposed to do, and did even before the hump was removed. I noticed that on my G30sf, and had read about it before I even looked at it.

Hi Mra.
I checked to see if the trigger bar did as you say.
On the plunger there is (on mine) a tiny mark
or gouge.I can't feel it,but it's visible.
I watched that mark and it never rotated.
Lucky I guess.

Shoot and dry fire enough and the polishing takes care of itself.

The FP safety is supposed to rotate as the trigger bar cam slides across it. Otherwise there'd be a perfectly straight wear line along the face. Personally, I think that bump is there to prevent the TBC from torquing off to one side and, thus, fail to completely raise the FP safety up into the striker's, 'pass-through' groove.

That's exactly what I do. I never cared how the pre Gen 4 triggers pushed on the firing pin safety, the little bump makes it better.
 
I have done both of my Gen 4's this way.I just partially file it down then polish and it helps alot.I tried the 000357(Gen 3) trigger bars too but for whatever reason the bars with the filed down bumps gave a lighter trigger pull.For me doing this in combination with the dot connector yeilds a better trigger pull than a Gen 3.
