I filed the bump off a Gen 4 G17 for the exact reasons stated by rong.The pull lightened but I saw that the trigger bar now contacted the firing pin safety plunger along the edge of the plunger and the plunger also rotated as contact was made. Did not look good to me for proper function. What I now do with Gen 4 Glocks with the bump is to polish the bump and also the area that the bump contacts on the silde. Bring this area to a mirror finish, apply a bit of oil or grease (dry fire a bunch) and I think you will see a much smoother operation. I did anyway.

Yes, this is what it is supposed to do, and did even before the hump was removed. I noticed that on my G30sf, and had read about it before I even looked at it.
