What are your "beater" firearms?

As in, what do you use for something like that extra gun around the house just in case you're not hear your EDC or night stand gun or your beater truck shotgun/rifle?

For me, the beater pistol is a Taurus G2C. Was going to sell it because I don't need it, but I would only put about $100 in my pocket so just keep it. I did a fun paint job on it that I had been wanting to try & it serves as the beater house pistol.

I guess the beater shotgun is the police trade-in 870 I picked up, but maybe I will switch that to the PD trade-on Mossberg 500 after my form 1 is approved & can gets out of jail.

I don't have a beater rifle, but I guess the closest to that, for me, would be the 10.5" barrel AR pistol I built. Waiting on the Form 1 for that so I can slap the Sylvan folding stock adapter on with the B5 Bravo stock. Once the YHM Turbo T3 can gets out of jail, I can also run that on this. Maybe the Sub 2000 is my beater since I would get squat selling it with the KT rebates going on lol

They are all "beater" guns. Otherwise they are safe "queens" and eyeball strokers.
Pretty much.

I have a few I make an attempt to keep nicer, as the price tags are higher. But if I don't shoot them...bye-bye.

I consider guns under about $1000 to be a consumable all things considered. Wear 'em out if you can. If you can't, try harder.

I have Glocks and ARs for hard use guns. These are guns that get exposed to rough handling and neglect. They bounce around in a pickup or Jeep, they get rained on, snowed on and eat a lot of dust. After the fun is over, they get cleaned up and readied for the next adventure.

A cheap gun? Idk about a beater backup because my beater is my EDC G19.3 or G43x, whichever I'm carrying at the time. I always have one on me since with my 2 year old son, I can't have guns laying around anymore.

I have a XDm 40 in the safe, that's probably my lowest value handgun. I also keep a safely stored but conveniently accessible Beretta 1301 tactical 12ga for home defense.

I have a couple of SCCY CPX-2s that I would consider beaters, or don’t really care if they get scratched and dinged up pistols. One rides in my shoulder holster or bibs pocket for morning barn and kennel chores. Use to carry a Taurus 865, but the SCCYs carry better and are lighter. Just picked up a CPX-3, 380, to play with as well.

Trying to whittle it down to just 9mms and 380s, so part of the reason I don’t carry my older G27 or the 856 anymore.

ETA: if my other guns, mostly G26s and G42s, had more dings and bangs in them I have no problem carrying in the barn and kennels. But damn if the new Gen 5 finish ain’t very good they all still look my old G27.3 with FPF is in really great shape. Plus with bird dropping and “wet” shavings everywhere, I don’t want to have to wide my EDCs down afterwards.

My first beater gun was a g2c it was a good gun but got offered what I paid for it plus a little more, then it went to an xd9 that I lost my ass on in an auction... now I thinks its my p320 or my 43... my glock collection gets carried but not abused everyday wear is fine but I try and keep something around that I can get paint on, leave in my shop or camper and not worry the least bit... I've learned though I don't hang on to beaters very long as their not my favorites

My beater guns would be my Shield 9 and my Ruger LCP. I carry both and don't worry if they get scratched or dinged. I take better care of them because they are my carry guns. Others I tend to baby a bit more like my nightstand gun and some of my favorite range guns.

My 870 Express and my Benelli Nova are the only two I take with me when I'm running around the Nebraska Sandhills. They get bounced around in the truck, used as an aid to get over barbed wire fences and can get gunked up with sand. While I'd love to take my Browning 725 out there just once to shoot chickens, I'd hate myself if I put a scratch on it.
