You’re projecting and feeding people crap.

Whatever, I’m done with you.
I seem to be able to put forward a whole lot of detailed thoughts for someone who’s peddling crap…guess what? I’ve been in gunfights. In vehicles and in buildings. I’ve done threat assessments (lots of them), I’ve done site surveys and all that, I’ve done conops planning, I’ve done protective details….yeah, I’m full of ****…ok…

1) Both 9 and 45 are very loud, will hurt your ears and will cause ringing for awhile.
2) If it won’t penetrate wallboard, it won’t stop an attack.
3) Do not worry about over penetration. Instead, worry about tactics. Spending time analyzing the background while in a fight is not smart. It adds too many variables to the decision tree. Instead, set things up in advance.

If you are in your home, it is best to preplan this. For example, if there is an occupied bedroom directly in line with where you may shoot (such as down a stairs or at someone at the top), either take that room or turn it into a guest bedroom. Move that person to the side. If this is not possible, at least move the bed out of the way.
You could always ask the perp to move to an area of your home that would provide a safer shot too.

“Mag swaps” must be one of those professional gun fighter terms that I don’t understand….I think you mean Tac Reload.

I would think a “mag swap” is when I yell “LAST MAG!” And someone tosses me a mag…

but what do I know???

and yes, a Tac reload is exactly what I would do after sending rounds down range at a threat, then the “high capacity” mag comes out
I'm not that cool guy using the big words - Tac Reload . Personally saying tactical is for the tacticool guys .

I'll stay with mag swaps or maybe say - Do You Practice Reloads when person to person . Just your a cool guy so Tac is short for tactical right ?? Tac reload is to cool for me . 30 years ago some training centers said it was a mag reload !
Now remember your the one picking on some one else -

In case anyone didn’t get the memo group attacks are on the rise and have been for awhile - so you should have added - Be sure you practice mag reloads , swaps or your tac reloads !!

I’m just using professional training terms, and professional team tactics terms…that’s bothersome to some I guess…

so, can you clarify mag swap again like I asked? And there’s a reason I’m asking.

Some pro trainers 30 years ago said Practice Mag Reload while running or behind cover or ,,,, or . I to old to change how I use a word , the meaning is known . I'm sure most ever guy here under stands to practice some variation of a reload along with dealing with a ftf - tap rack bang while maybe needing a reload or before you run empty reload concerns . I started counyting rounds when I first hunted with dads model 28 You don't want to hear a click with a revolver around hogs . I took a handgun course at gunsight a ,, 30 years ago before the term - tactical reload was popular . You seem to want to talk tacticool , what ever , I don't . Not like your point of view matters to me . BUt it is fun to see you try to get some point across . OH and we all know you have done it all . Ha Bye bye now .

And let me remind people that on here because of “FBI stats” most think that 7rds is just fine.
The FBI is clear that carrying more rounds is better, which is one of their stated reasons for the switch back to 9 from 40. If somebody reads FBI material about this and interprets it to mean that carrying fewer rounds is OK, that is a failure of the reader, not the "FBI stats".

This is conflating FBI data on shootings with the decision to change back to 9mm. The shootings data is replicated by other organizations/local LEAs. It is what I'd consider pretty solid. The FBI change to 9mm is based on thier data from ballistics, training and the procurement departments. And is not necessarily a by-product or in any way directly related to national shootings data or statistics.
In any case, according to the shootings data, the likelyhood of more than 6 shots being fired by an individual in an incident (both civilian and LEO) is quite low, something like 10%.
Aside from that, the primary reasoning behind the FBI switchback to 9mm is not capacity, but ballistic performance being approximately equal, shootability. The capacity is a nice to have.

Home defense situation goes much more to the favour of you- as a home owner, than street self defense scenario. You have the advantage, being on your own turf, knowing all parts of the house/apartment. The intruders don't know where they are, they don't know the layout, they don't know how many occupants are in the house, whether they are armed, have a dog, etc.. You can use all that to your advantage. Combine that with good alarm system and a cctw and maybe a guard dog that warns you to equip a gun and electronic ear muffs and you've got nothing to fear. If the intruders aren't hitmen or gangsters who are sent to hurt you, it is most likely they wont even try to fight back but just run. Even crackheads aren't that stupid to go into firefight with a homeowner armed with 12 gauge shotgun or a glock pistol with 100 rds drum.
That's why i don't fear home intruders so much. But i do fear street muggers. They can surprise you, surround you and they can disarm you before you even have the chance to draw a gun. That's why personaly, i don't carry a gun with me. Because i'm afraid it'd make things worse. They could disarm me, then beat the hell out of me or even kill me. Or just steal my precious gun lol. But in my own home, i'm the king and i am prepared 24/7 with all kinds of guns and gadgets.
Smartest thing I've read on this thread. I'm mixed on home defense vs carrying. Home defense makes a lot of sense but like you said, your odds are usually pretty good. Almost so good it isn't really worth even factoring in. Whereas, being out in the world, I think we have all watched too many movies, the problem with pulling a gun in any situation other than an active shooter, is that your only option is to shoot... And if you aren't going to a shoot, you could get your gun taken. And then who knows...
