Looking at finally getting a weapon light and the one I always thought was a good value is the TLR-1, but before I buy I would appreciate your opinions or recommendations for what-ever else is out there for good value weapon lights.

Thanks!!

FWIW I've had the TLR-2 on my duty weapon since 2006. Thousands of rounds. Many range sessions, SWAT training, sessions, rain, mud, it's beat to hell and back and never given me an issue. Damn good bang for the buck. I saw a buddy's surefire x300 fail at the range last year, it was about a year old. Granted I've never had any issue with any Surefire product, but for the money, Streamlights are hard to beat. YMMV.

I have a TLR-3 on my AR Pistol for home defense duty and it seems like a pretty good piece of kit. I'll probably go with a TLR1s a bit later on it and move the TLR3 over to my S&W M&P45 M2.0 when funds allow. I'd say go for it. Streamlight makes a pretty decent light IMHO.

I've got probably a half-dozen streamlights in my toolbox at work, one in each truck, a few more at the house, several on different firearms. I'm a streamlight fanboy because I know how tough they are.

Multiple drops from the top of a concrete mixer (probably 15-16ft), literally being driven over by a bucket loader, dropped in bucket of oil/hydraulic fluid/diesel/coolant, etc. I have NEVER had one fail.

Another fan of Streamlight here. I have a half-dozen of their weapon lights, and a handful of their flashlights of varying sizes. Other than a minor problem with a TLR-3 which may have been caused by an out-of-spec rail it was mounted to, I've been very impressed by their durability and output vs cost. I'm no operator, but my guns and lights do get banged around a bit in normal use, and they have handled it with no problems.

You can pay more, but you won't necessarily get more when all things are considered. You can pay less, and take your chances with long-term durability. Streamlight weaponlights, especially the TLR-1/TRL-2, are a proven quantity, squarely in the middle of the sweet spot of cost vs performance.

(I have no relationship with the company, other than being a satisfied customer)

I have 3 TRL-1's and not a bit of trouble from any of them. Granted 1 of them spends most of it's time in the safe, but the other 2 are used and abused on a regular basis and not a problem from either one. As a bonus, hard to beat the price.

I have a TLR-1 HL that I've had for a year or two now and to tell you the truth, it's almost too bright. The times I've practiced with it, going from pitch black to a full 800 lumens with the TLR-1 nearly blinds ME and that's just from the reflection coming off walls and anything else that's a light color.

I recently picked up a Olight PL-Mini Valkyrie. The design is perfect, no screws to attach it, just a metal lever you flip to lock it onto the rail. It's rechargeable and it's charger snaps magnetically, just like the Olight rechargeable flashlights. And at 400 lumens the light output is right on. Enough to light up what you're wanting to light up, without blinding yourself in the process. $80 on Amazon. Here's link to a review and a pic of it on my carry gun I snapped a few minutes ago.

OP, what size gun are you putting the WML on?

I'm also a Streamlight fan. I like the TLR 1HL on a full size weapon where it does not extend too far etc. You are good indoors or out with that one.

On smaller frames like a G23/19 I like the TLR 3 better ... doesn't extend much beyond the barrel, balances the weapon size better, not as heavy, and only takes 1 battery. The TLR 3 has plenty of light for inside and enough light outside for a walk around the house etc, unless you are clearing an alley or walking down a long driveway, or some other long distance scenario.

The Olight seems interesting.

I’ve had TLR1, Surefire x300, Inforce APL and have an APLc waiting for a holster to arrive. All have worked well. I think the role you want to fill will dictate what you may want to try. The X300, TLR are good for traditional IWB carry, but due to their width they require a gap between the holster body and gun. This may or may not cause you concern. I carried an x300 for years and never had an issue. The APL is narrow enough that there is little gapping between holster and gun. Probably more versatility without the worry. Neither of the 3 would work AIWB for me. Hence the APLc. Will see shortly how comfy that set up is AIWB.

All the lights, except the APLc, have hundreds if not thousands of rounds down range between 9 and 45 with 0 issues.

Personal opinion, is that the paddle system of the Inforce lights is the best, unless you have a tape switch. Even my dwarfish small hands can access and operate the paddles without messing with the grip.

I've had four iterations of the TLR-1 on my duty weapon the past twenty years. I only change them because newer versions came out. The old ones still work fine.

1. Regular bulb
2. C4 LED
3. HL version 1 (600 lumen)
4. HL version 2 (800 lumen)

When I bought #4 for my duty weapon, I moved #3 to my off duty weapon.

Even the #2 version on your list had changes. My first one was 200 lumens, I believe, and several of my later ones were 300 lumen models. Heck, I may still have the boxes for some of them.

There may have been an intermediate level between those as well (250L?)

I don't use lights only.
I use lasers or better yet laser/lights on all my defense guns, handguns, rifles and shotguns. The TLR-2 or TLR-4.

I do not know how many Streamlight TLR's I have.

Years back one started acting up on a shotgun. It gave me warning that it was going to quit.
Streamlight made it good, even though I couldn't even tell them when I bought it.

Yeah. i didn't switch to the led right away until they got to 250L?

Then waited until the 600L.

Way back in the day when the first one came out I did stick rechargeable 3.7V batteries in and blew the bulb. Streamlight replaced it, no questions asked. I switched to 3.0V rechargeable batteries for awhile but then started buying 123 batteries in 50 round packs.

I make every new officer buy a TLR when they start since it's cheaper for us to give them a holster once.

Have a bunch of their flashlights, and a couple 3 TLRs that see duty on a number of long guns. They almost act like an aiming laser at shorter distances, and they do light up the world. Good stuff.

The Streamlight Company puts a virtual no questions asked Lifetime Warranty on the TLR-1.

I can make a 40-yard shot in near total blackness once I illuminate the target. Further than that even.

I own several on guns ranging from my duty Colt Rail Gun to my occasional duty GLOCK34 to my 16" AR-15 and even a pump shotgun. Only batteries I use in them are, oddly enough, Surefire CR123s because their batteries are made in U.S.A.

I have a trl1-s and I'm very happy with it.

Never has given me any problems.

I have 2 TLR 1 an older 300 lumen and a hl lights and a surefire x300u. The streamlight is brighter and has a wider beam than the surefire. I've broke the door off the hl but found out there was a defective batch of doors. Got the new door and it's never had any other issues. For the price and durability you can't beat the hl.
