Ruger LCP-Custom and Ruger LCP II range review

I purchased both last Friday and now had a chance to take them to the range.
Prior to the Range I broke both down and cleaned them.
I lubricated both with gun butter lube.
I replaced both guide rods with Galloway SS and the recoil springs with 13# galloway springs
I did put a Hogue hybrid grip on the LCP Custom.
Now for the Range trip. I brought Speer Lawman, Blazer Brass and Geco FMJ. For JHP I brought Hornady Custom, Hornady American Gunner and Fiocchi Extrema. I will be getting Underwood Extreme Penetrator
Both guns were FLAWLESS with ALL the ammo. Every combination of FMJ and JHP in multiple magazines were flawless
The Custom was wickedly accurate. POA=POI I could group at 7 yards about 1-1 1/2 inches without even trying. Trigger is somewhat long and stiff. The Hogue grip was very helpful. Recoil was not bad. Sights were decent
The LCP II trigger is much nicer. The grip is already wider like the Hogue. The sights are low profile no snag which is great but for range use they suck. Any defensive use for either one will be point and shoot.
Here is the only difference I was ALWAYS shooting 2 inches to the left and groups were about 2 1/2-3 1/2 inches at 7 yards. I expected just the opposite due to the much nicer trigger on the II
SO all in all I put about 150 rounds through both. I would not hesitate to carry both and will be carrying the Custom since I shot it so well. Here is the kicker..MY wife tried both and grouped about 4" with the custom. She did very well with the II at about 2" group and center of mass. So I suspect its nothing more than my grip or hand size and not the pistol with me grouping consistently to the left with the II. She will carry the II and I will carry the Custom when pocket carry

I installed night sighters on my LCP2 and it worked out well. It is a handful at the range but a perfect discreet carry piece. Definitely a far nicer trigger than my original LCP. Kind of wish the CrimsonTrace laser was compatible, but I'm sure they will be producing one for this model shortly.

What are night sighters? Can you send me a link? I didnt think the sights were removable or adjustable on the LCP II??

Here is a link.If you follow the installation directions, these are very handy. They are a luminus (SP) material that is very easy to see during the day and will last for a period into the night. They are adhesive backed, I install and then heat them with a hair dryer and leave them overnight to completely cure. I do not use the super glue that is provided. Have had a set on my original LCP for years.

I Bought the first LCP I ever touched, and have for the most part have carried one in my pocket EVERYWHERE I have gone for many years. I now have a Gen 1, Gen 2, and LCP 2 all right now, as well as a whole lot of rounds through each of them. The Gen 2 has a Galloway Precision trigger system in it. Kinda making it like a Custom. This newer LCP 2 is blowing them away. That New LCP trigger is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, the pistol shoots and feels like a seriously real semi-auto handgun as opposed to a very long and heavy trigger pull, super thin (that makes the stiff recoil more sharp onto my hands) little gun that I can shoot well. I don't mean to be critical of the original LCP's because I really like them. I just love the new LCP 2. I have a whole lot rounds through it and I love just about everything about it. Though I wouldn't mind a 7 round magazine. That's my only real complaint.

How much are these little bastages, looks
like I need one or three of them.

Still have to get two or three more of the
LC9Ss

I have always been a Ruger fan not because
they are Rugers but because I was a gunsmith
and got to see how they are made, strong accurate
and reliable and with the best CS in the business.

Glock sure could learn from them.

When something is good I get at least one or more
for everyone in the family.

Some think I am crazy for having nineteen 357s
but hay there is three in this family.

The one in the gun is the factory LCP ii mag. I changed the base plate to the extended base plate and shaved about 1/16" off the rear of the extended base plate that changed the angle so it would fit. Have 150 rounds thru it without any isses and slide locks open after last round every time.

The other extended mag is just the old 7 rd mag and I trimed the rear angle of it for fit too. Only have 50 rounds thru it, but no malfunctions so far. Just dosen't go to slide lock after last round.

I have an old 6rd lcp mag with magguts installed to give 7 rounds. Shot 3 mags with it and had at least one failure to feed each mag.

Still going to put some more rounds thru the extended mags before I will carry that way, but things look promising for me at least until Ruger gets a 7 round mag out for the LCP ii.

Oh and the LCP ii trigger is soooooo much better than my 2009 LCP!

The Hogue grip is a must IMO. I had the original LCP and sold it to my neighbor's wife when they got a divorce. She wanted it for home defense and possible carry. To my knowledge it is the only gun she owns. I was not a fan of the trigger or the sights. For a while I considered buying the LCP custom or a Kahr 380, but I prefer a Glock and have no problem carrying a Glock 27.

I shoot new guns stock before I go replacing parts, just to verify 100% function. My LCP had a trigger reset issue and had to go back to Ruger not once, but twice. If I had replaced parts before shooting it and discovering the problem it would have been an even bigger hassle sorting everything out.
