KKM had one threaded .40 conversion barrel in stock and I got my order in today. Still have to wait until my dang FOID goes through before I can legally shoot in Illinois. Anyway, looking forward to putting some 180 grain .40s through the G20 at the range.

I have a G-20 with an aftermarket Lone Wolf .40 4.6" barrel and really prefer it over the 10mm. A reasonable load of Power Pistol (5.8 grs.) pushes 180 gr. coated bullets at 984 fps. A very pleasant to shoot load, The standard deviation (SD) was an outstanding 2.

In comparison, 10mm Armscor 180 gr. was 1166 with a 15 SD, and Freedom Mun. 180 was 1009 with a 23 SD. 10mm 180 gr. Power Pistol reloads gave me 1122 fps, SD of10.

The 10mm is only 138 fps faster than the .40 . Not a whole bunch, plus the .40 cases are a lot cheaper and way more available.

I found that .40's work fine in 10mm barrels except the barrels should be cleaned regularly, though no big deal.

Anyhow, enjoy.

Aim is the same. Point of impact might be a little off. Pretty sure the 23 uses a slightly taller rear sight than the 32, but anything 21' and under, the POI shouldn't be off by much, at all. Where you'd really see it is 25 to 50 yds, if you used a G32 with a .40 conversion. With a zero at 25 yds with the G32 stock sights shooting Sig ammo, or any zeroed sights, FTM, the 40 S&W would be a tic low at the same distance, hence the slightly taller rear sight for the G23. Now, when I say a tic low, that is what it is...a tic.

eta - something to keep in mind is some sight makers sell the exact same rear sight for 9mm, .40, and Sig...no height diff.

I did see that some make the same heights for all three. Not really understanding that but I guess it's what you get used to and learn to use.

My best guess is at self defense distances, all 3 calibers are going to hit the same spot. Even out to 15 yds it's going to be very close. It's just not a distance where bullet drop begins to show up.

Thanks. To be honest, when I go to the range I do not push the target out past 15 yards. I see others going as far back as possible with handguns but if I am shooting at someone at those distances or farther I hope I have my 357 sig and not my 9mm. A war will have definitely started, in that case.

Thanks for the tip.

I'm starting to lean towards a 10mm conversion barrel for one of my 41's. It would be the 6" so I can thread it to install a brake. For range fun and bragging rights, only, but if it proved to be reliable with middle weight 10mm ammo, I could see taking a pig or two with it.
