My new Atlas Gunworks Titan 2011 :):):)

Atlas Gunworks is one of the premier builders of 2011’s and they match or exceed any other 2011 company in the world, as far as I’m concerned. They are relatively new to the scene, but are quickly gaining popularity from those shooters and competitors who want nothing but the best equipment.

The Titan was Atlas’ first “set model”. This means it was their first 2011 to have a model name with a set list of specifications (with some options also). The Titan is a 5” pistol that was available in 9mm, 40S&W, and 45ACP. I use the word “was”, because the Titan is no longer available to order. Atlas builds the Titan when they have the opportunity in their work timeline. It’s not discontinued, but it can’t be ordered like their other current models.

The fact that the gun can’t be ordered and is built to a custom spec means that Atlas has not raised the price as it has with the other models. The Titan comes in as pictured at $4250. While this probably seems pricey, it really isn’t for what you’re getting. If the Titan were still offered to order and couldn’t be built ahead of time, the price would be $1000-$1500 more. The Atlas Nemesis, which is the same gun with a sight block is over $6000. What this means is that if you’re fortunate enough to snag a Titan off their website before it’s gone, you get yourself a world class 2011 at an “discontinued” price point.

As for Atlas Gunworks, I truly believe they may make the best 2011’s in the world. That’s all they build. They are focused solely on quality and performance. They don’t offer nearly the amount of options as a company like Infinity, but the build quality is a match. Atlas also spends a lot of time on R&D to ensure their pistols return to zero as quickly and precisely as possible. In theory this makes follow up shots and double taps much more accurate.

The fitting of the gun is almost beyond belief with its precision and perfection. The pinned grip safety, for instance, is fit so well that it feels like it’s one with the frame and grip. Attention to detail is way off the charts. The trigger breaks at about 1.5 lbs and is extremely crisp with an extremely short reset. These pistols really need to be held and shot to fully appreciate. :)

This example is in 40S&W, as I wanted a 2011 in that caliber. It’s also the only way to get a full steel gun from Atlas, as their 9mm pistols are all fitted with aluminum grips. The removable grip panels are also steel, but Atlas sent me a pair of brass panels free of charge in the event I wanted the gun to be heavier. Speaking of weight, it weighs in at a hefty 49oz empty and that’s with the small aluminum magwell option. A larger and steel magwell would make it considerably heavier. I just don’t care for large magwells and the small “tactical” one isn’t available in steel. This gun has a hard chrome frame and slide with a stainless steel grip. Whoever does the chrome for Atlas does superior work.

Needless to say, I very highly recommend an Atlas 2011. The step up in quality from a lesser 2011, such as Staccato, is substantial. Who here owns a Titan or another Atlas pistol?

As always, enjoy the pics and share your thoughts.

Thanks! :D

Here is my Titan with my other Atlas, the Hyperion. The Hyperion is a 4.6" model and a dedicated 9mm platform. Unlike the all steel Titan, the Hyperion has an aluminum grip. Its a fantastic shooter.

So for an extra $2000 over a run-of-the-mill STI/Staccato you get a real grip that doesn't have those damn ears on either side the grip safety gouging the palm of your hand. I'm in! Finally, someone figured out how to make the 2011 grip comfortable. Not sure why it took decades to figure this out. (The ears from the widened trigger bar.)

Their logo seems like a variation of the military's flaming bomb
