Saw they finally announced these officially. Looking forward to getting a scorpion.

Glad to see the mag release; I prefer smaller 20 rounders, hopefully Magpul will do something similar. And I actually like the OEM grip, so while the Magpul PG looks great I’m not likely to get one.

I like stock grip quite a lot as well. Others will be excited for the Magpul grip though.

You can get factory stock magazines for five cents more shipped from CZ. What's the allure?

I've got about 3K rounds through mine, I've got six 20 round and 6 thirty round magazines that stay loaded. I've had zero issues with mine. Magpul is gonna have to do something better price wise in my opinion.

HBI has had mag releases and grips for a while.

Nothing to see here.....
Many have problems with OEM mags breaking. It is why the Manticore mags are so popular.

So what's the allure?

Availability. #1 problem for aftermarket grips is the one everyone wants is always out of stock. Being able to get it from any place that sells Magpul stuff for the Scorpion is awesome. Look at how convenient it is for ARs.

While HBI does sell mag release, no one makes a mag release exactly like the one Magpul is introducing. It's like the stock release, except the sides are flared and there is an paddle. Can't believe no one thought to do it before Magpul.

As I already pointed out there isn't much to say.

Five cent cheaper (uglier IMO) mags and two other parts a half dozen other companies make better.

I really like Magpul. I have dozens of their mags and at least 4 sets of furniture. The CZ stuff? It's late and wholly unimpressive.

I like more rounds, I’ll probably pick one up still.

If Magpul was smart they’d develop a quality drum for the Glock in 9mm.

Magpul AK style safeties would sell very well.

Here we go again. If magpul makes them, they would be cheaper than that and readily available. They are constantly sold out of the right selector on HBI.

Yeah. given the costs displayed for upcoming Magpul products that doesn't appear to be the case, nor does the quality reflect anything I'd use on my CZ for an aftermarket part. People want upgrades not downgrades.

Are you perhaps a third party seller? There is NO way you can justify those butt-ugly Magpul magazines or their prices against the equally priced stock magazines and you were completely unaware of the fact that a paddle release has been out for AGES or the AK selector by at least two other companies.... What gives?

FYI the HBI right hand AK selector lever in the link I gave you lists them as "In Stock".

Wow, that's funny coming from someone that sounds like a HBI salesman bringing them up every post. Makes sense why you'd trash Magpul then.

Any idea when the mags are going to become available? I don’t mind a little variety.

Scorpion 35 rd mag for 20 bucks...I can see several in my future!

Club near me has local matches set up similar to USPSA, but basically run what you brung. Last month my Ruger PC carbine choked again, so I pulled out the CZ scorpion pistol to at least finish shooting the match. Several stages of 30 targets and only 30 rd mags. It's awful nice to have a couple extra rounds in case you need to make up a target or two.

I am however very happy with my HBI and Yeti works parts too!

The last 2 matches there is another gentleman running an SBR Scorpion with the drum mag. It has functioned flawlessly for him both matches and he said he has never had a malfunction with the drum mag. But they are pricey!

Mag release came today and got it installed. It was sticking a little, so I filed it where it was coming into contact with the trigger guard. That issue was solved after about 30 minutes of trying a few things. Using OEM CZ 20 round mags, if you push the release while inserting a mag it won't fully return to position. No issues with Manticore mags.

When CZ updated the mags in the past, did they change the slot for the catch or anything like that? Don't own one so I'm not sure

Do you think by fitting the release you may have altered it to the point the OEM mags are causing problems or do you think you need to do more fitting?

No. The areas that I altered would have no bearing on the problems I'm having on the OEM mags and were happening before I made any changes.

I was doing some mag changes earlier and I noticed it was cutting into my thumb from inserting a mag and it hitting the release. The edges are a little sharp, so I rounded them off.

Kinda wish I just went with the HBI mag release now.

Someone's gotta to try them out and you went in with a positive mindset.

I think you'll be happy with their stuff. If you haven't done the trigger spring change yet I'd grab one of those as well Big difference
That's the first mod I did. It has worked great up until yesterday. 2 times the trigger didn't reset.

#40 ·
Trigger reset issue is likely caused by the spring leg being misaligned. Check and make sure the bottom leg is up against the trigger housing. Another cause is the trigger shoe pin is rubbing on the housing and not allowing it to reset. My bet is on the spring leg in the wrong place as I learned about that first hand :)

This video will show how the spring should look.

You can see the red leg of the trigger spring is all the way against the trigger housing. The photo looks a little skewed but that leg is tucked flush to the corner If yours isn't you need to dissemble and reassemble the pack so the leg is flush to the wall.

My spring looks like that.

Anyways, HBI release came. Here are some pics to compare mag release

HBI, Magpul, and stock CZ

Anyone have luck finding a mag? I ordered all the other parts from Optics Planet today, called them up and they gave me an additional 12% off discount.
