I keep turning off my Holosun when I rack my slide.

I am right handed and I rack my slide (G43X) with my left hand grabbing the slide IFO the Holosun (407K). As I grab the slide my right thumb naturally lays across the left side of the sight, hitting the (- and +) buttons and turning off the sight's red dot. Has anyone else encountered this situation and if so, what was your fix? Or, what am I doing wrong?

P.S. I understand there's a lockout mode but, with the dot lit all the time, how long will the battery last?

Based on the pictures, do you turn your gun sideways when racking in order attain that grip orientation?

At a range with others around, do you need to turn your body sideways when racking to maintain muzzle discipline and stay pointed downrange? (Or does your weak arm elbow point way forward to achieve that grip angle?)

My off hand grips the slide from the rear and pulls backward. It looks like you grip from the front and push backwards. What happens when you need to eject a round and your hand is in the way?

I only have a dot on my rarely used Shield .45, but, as mentioned above, I sometimes just grab the whole red dot along with some of the slide and pull. (But, still grabbing and pulling from behind with the pistol straight out in front of me, not grabbing from the front with the pistol sideways or with my elbow projecting forward).

Turning the gun over to rack the slide doesnt take a body position change, the muzzle is still downrange.

I have a friend of mine that uses the Vickers Tactical Slide Racker on his G48 MOS with a 407K attached and I was impressed with how much easier it was to rack with that back plate. It added just a little extra on each side to get a better grip on the slide.

Most of the guys/gals o see ate just use the front o the dots housing to rack their slides. A good optic wont be abused by such handling.

That must be why the G20.5 has the front slide serrations.

Same setup with 507K and right handed. I hold slide wth left left hand in front of Holosun and push the frame forward to rack slide.
