Umm. Faster weak hand draws is one of the benefits of appendix carry position.
That's not what my personal experiences has showed me. I can't get my week hand to twist and get a solid enough grip ( all I can get is two fingers and my thumb on the grip and not very firmly) from the 12:00.
From the 4 - 4:30 I can get a solid enough grip with either hand. So for some of us 12:00 is a big fail.

Sadly, people forget that nothing gets better, or different without trying something different. AIWB isn't for everyone, but the OP asked about AIWB. It works for some-just because it doesn't work for you doesn't mean it isn't a thing. I know many dudes, who have carried on their hips for careers who now carry AIWB for work and EDC after work. Answer the OP's question if you have experience with it. Otherwise, we all know the 4-4:30 is the best...

Appendix carry is just plain stupid.

People need to think about where the muzzle is pointing. Think genitals and femoral artery.

Think about having no safety on your glock.

Think about the "glock leg" videos you have seen.

Think about every soldier who died in battle who thought it won't happen to me.

P.S. If you (the op) find it uncomfortable, it will always be uncomfortable for you.

I'm new to EDC so on a similar journey of discovery like the OP. I'm carrying a P365 in a Tulster Profile kydex holster. I chose that option thinking the most minimal/small sized option would be easiest to carry and conceal. I've been experimenting with my carry location and so far the most comfortable for me, walking around, sitting, driving is AIWB. The rig is short enough for me that it only offers a little pressure against my groin/aductor muscle area which is not enough to be bothersome. I've tried spending the day wearing it at 4-4:30 and it also works well for sitting and actually maybe a little more comfortable driving but it's creating a hot spot on my hip that is painful after several hours of carry.

I'm very tuned in to the idea of carry safety and the idea of where the muzzle is pointed on my striker fired handgun while it's AIWB holstered. At the risk of soliciting comments on my mental acuity, I'm initially carrying without a chambered round and practice a draw, rack, and putting rounds on target. I'm not liking that as a permanent solution so I've ordered the Wilson Combat 365 safety kit thinking I'll be more at ease with one in the pipe with the manual safety.

As I mentioned, I'm on a journey of discovery for what will work best for me. Maybe a different holster will be more comfortable at 4-4:30. It looks like a hybrid with a leather backing would spread that contact point out and maybe eliminate that hot spot on my hip? However, I've heard from a couple of sources that hybrids are the least safe holster option in that the risk of an ND is higher with the softer back. I'm not sure I understand that given that it seems the same situation would exist for an all leather holster? I'd much rather carry on my hip if I can find a comfortable solution so I'm headed down that path of a drawer full of holsters to find it. Fortunately, they aren't that expensive :)

There may not be a “special off switch” or manual safety, but all Glock handguns have safeties. They’re internal. Just because you can’t see it or touch it demean it’s not there.

PHLster - The Basics of Concealment Mechnics

Forget having your answer presented in a post. Sit down, check the link, and accept that it will take you a bit to figure it out. The key here, which wasn't around just a few years ago, is this is THE best one-stop resource for getting you on the correct path. I seriously wish I had it available wen I started carrying AIWB about 10 years ago - I would have saved over $1k in holster fails.

I prefer to carry a G17 or G45 AIWB, which I do in the winter as my cover garment allows it. In the summer months it is a G19 - and that switch is just because the G17 length grip is on the edge of acceptable (for me) concealment in a t-shirt.
Ditto for PHLster, esp. the Enigma. Lots of Enigma users carry and conceal full sized pistols comfortably, including me. The Enigma may seem pricey and will not work for everyone but it seems to be an effective and, ultimately, cost effective AIWB solution for most.

Lefty here, LCR in a Blackhawk clip holster, half in and half out of my left jean pocket with the clip holding things in place. It stays put, disappears under a T-shirt and I forget it's there on a regular basis. Been doing it this way for 13 years with no issues. Don't laugh until you try it!

I'm really liking the LAS Concealment holsters for my Glock 45 and Staccato P. One key thing is to have the holster facilitate getting a full grip on the butt of the gun and LAS designs that in. I have a Dara for my Walther that doesn't allow a full grip and I'm going to switch it out for another LAS Rampart.

LAS Concealment Rampart
That holster looks very similar to the Tulster Profile that I'm using. I couldn't agree more that a defining characteristic should be the ability to get a proper grip on it as it's coming out of the holster. I initially tried a JM4 leather holster with magnet retention but the option that fit my 365 swallows it and leaves me having to dig it out when practicing.

I've tried it with a Vedder light tuck IWB with a claw (probably better options for comfort) and while walking I really liked it.

But the second I sit down, holy **** my gun was digging into my gut and holster in my leg.

Now in today's world I'm "skinny" but I don't have the 6 pack I used to. If I had to describe my build I would say beginning stages of dad bod. Is there a secret to it that I don't know or does it require washboard abs?
Would help if you state what gun it is you have. I carry a G40 in that position when hiking only. Otherwise G20 or G19X. The G19X feels the most comfortable in that position for when sitting or bending. G20 not too bad either but I do feel it little more then the 19X when sitting for longer periods. I am sure a G43 would work great for anyone.

I have never seen a competent defensive carry instructor recommend anything other than OWB @ 2:30. Kydex (no leather) Yes there may be times that IWB or other may be desirable.
How do you quantify competent? No competent self defense instructor would teach to only carry OWB@2:30. Realistically not easy or efficient for most to conceal OWB and any instructor worth his salt would teach SD around the individual's best mechanism for concealment and efficiency of draw. Your post shows your total lack of experience with quality self defense training.

AIWB P365xl and Macro X in this setup;

I wear medical scrubs and this is a nice setup.
I hate the leg leash.
I went to the vertx runner’s clutch. Once it’s broken in , much more comfortable and I use a regular kydex holster.

I do not use the leg leash and everything sits in place.

How’s the draw without the leash?
The draw is actually good, without the leash. Smooth with no hang ups. The kydex holster is not overly tight, so drawing the guns are simple. I keep the waist strap fairly snug, and that keeps things in place for me. I have not found a better setup with medical scrubs. It was someone here that told me about this setup.

I’ll second Riddicks no need for the leash. I do need to use a wedge on the holster which adds a bit of friction on the draw to keep things in position. The 365xl on a Phlster pro stay put. As did my VP9 in a JMC shell. However with a snugger holster my G19 is borderline. Most likely since it’s a brand new holster that will go away.

However, if you are in a position where the leash is a need, there are alternative ways to wear the supplied one or actual alternatives to the supplied unit. There is one made from 3/4” wide mule tape which is a bit more comfy. Just google Enigna Leg leash.
