Henry Model X 357/38

Been searching for some time and finally found one in stock. I’ll be mainly using it as a suppressor host shooting 38 Specials.

Plan was to use an Sig Romeo 5 red dot but the mount I got didn’t work w/o having to do a little Dremel work so I used a Holosun instead. The stock fiber optic sights are actually pretty decent so I might pull the mount and dot off. Still debating.

Anyway here’s a pic,

That’s a good looking rig.
Is the light pipe on the front fiber optic interchangeable? Can you install orange or red light pipes?
What is the overall length of your gun with the can?

XS Sights makes a rail that appears flatter than the Henry optic mount. Maybe it would work for you. It does appear that the rear sight of the Henry would have to be removed. I believe the iron sights could be changed to the XS sights with the rail in case of optic failure. I have their rail and sight set up on my Marlin 336.
I took a couple of photos for you to show what theXS system looks like. The dimensions of the rear part of the rail are shown on a rounded receiver top rail that’s why there’s a gap at the start of the scale.

Rear peep. This is the large ghost ring. They come with a smaller aperture too.

I really like the white stripe front sight. Black and white contrast really help in low light or when aiming into tree cover.

The top of the picatinny rail is around 1/4”. I think my photo is a lit

The only problem I have with this rail is if you don’t want to use a Scout Scope it takes away you rear sight option, but their front sight is meant to be used with their peep sight in the rear. If you just wanted to buy their rail it removes the iron sight option
In addition to my Marlin I also have their iron sights on my Winchester 94 30-30. I really like their sights.
If I buy a Henry X model I might use the XS sight system on it as well.
Also, I just noticed they have a 25% off site wide sale going on.

Yes the front fiber can be replaced.

I think I want a more compact dot like a Holosun 507K. Took the dot off for now and will shoot it this weekend using the stock sights. I'll be bringing a handful of suppressors to figure out which one to dedicate to the Henry.:)

Thank you. Good to know.

I understand. Let us know what you decide on.

I have been considering an X model in .45 Colt, but I am not ruling out a .38/.357. But it will be a while before I can afford another gun.

I just handled and checked the Henry Big Boy X in .45 Colt. Man, is that action smooth. Very balanced gun. The shop has it listed at $940. I thought it was $925.
I have found my next long gun purchase. That is one sweet carbine. 😎

The Model X next to my Frontier SR.

Nice! They both look great. I like that Frontier. Normally I don’t like long barreled rifles but I like the looks of that one. Is it an accurate shooter?
What’s on the muzzle of each gun?

Thanks! The Frontier is boringly accurate and sports a compensator/thread protector😁. Very quiet with a suppressor. The X has a 3 lug muzzle device that makes taking a suppressor on/off simple and quick.
Thank you. After I asked I thought that the lugged attachment on the X carbine might be for a suppressor.
