Help me pick a rimfire suppressor

It will primarily be for pistol use. I’m down to two that I like for different reasons.

I like the modular design of the Rugged Oculus, and being able to set it up in a long or short configuration. I could see myself running it long on my Ruger MKIV or S&W Victory 22. I can also see myself running it on a threaded Beretta 21A or similar sized small .22 it its short configuration.

With the Silencerco Sparrow, I like the fact that the core is in a 2 piece shell that slides into the outer shell, making it easier to disassemble for cleaning. Then again, I normally keep gun stuff clean and clean within 24 hours of any range visit.

It may come down to fondling both when at my FFL on Saturday, and deciding then.

Between those two the Oculus for sure. The Sparrow on pistols will be loud on the first shot which is known as FRP or first round pop.

I currently own an Oculus, Mask, CGS Siren and Ruger Silent SR. If I could only have one the Oculus would be it. Sounds great on pistols and awesome on rifles in short mode.

I’m addicted to shooting suppressed 22. Currently waiting on 6 more 22 cans to get sprung out of NFA jail.😄

How did you set up that LCP2? Did not know they could be surpressed.

I have a Sparrow and it works great. It can be a royal PITA to disassemble. I clean it every 200-300 rounds and have had to wrap it in a towel, stick it in my bench vise, put screwdriver inside suppressor core, and drive the monocore out by hitting screwdriver with hammer.

Normally, you can put Sparrow on a flat surface and push down to get monocore and its clamshell out of the tube. Anti-seize on outside of clamshell is your friend…

I’ve been pretty happy with a stainless sparrow. I use high temperature anti- seize on the clam shells (thin layer) and 1st and 2nd baffles.

O-rings can be a bit fragile. I’ll sometimes tumble the monocore in stainless media and water/soap (like wet tumbling brass).

The anti-seize smokes a bit for several rounds, but lessens after the first magazine or two.

I've had a Sparrow SS close to 8 years and it works fine. Never really had a problem getting it apart but don't shoot 5k rounds without cleaning and expect an easy time. The main thing I probably don't like is the FRP with pistols, although it's not terrible, but can be mitigated with a few drops of water. To me that only matters if you're somewhere you really don't want to be heard as it's still (probably) hearing safe. At a range, it doesn't matter.

If I was buying today it'd probably be a Dead Air Mask and still haven't completely ruled out getting one.
