Glock 36 Gen 4 in 2016, or other Glock thoughts?

Are any of you hopeful for a Gen 4 Glock 36, or a Gen 4 Glock 30S?

I'm thinking that I'd like to keep with the Gen 4 tend (Glock 42, and Glock 43) as
I rebuild my Glock collection.

Other choices would be a Gen 4 Glock 26 and I also like the Gen 4 Glock 17 25th Anniversary model as well.

However, as a former Glock 30 owner (loved how it shot, just pretty big grip) I wish to also get into a Glock .45
ACP in a few months.

This means the Glock 30SF, and Glock 30S are still a bit wide for me, and I really don't need
10 rounds for my CCW needs, but the Glock 36 feels a bit odd.

Maybe some sort of grip sleeve would fix that problem??

Yet.. I'd like to wait and see what Glock offers
us in the New Year?

Clark, if you are still considering the G36, shoot it if you haven't. That odd feeling may get odder. I tried the 36 and 30sf side by side and really did not like the grip on the 36 when shooting. I went with the 30sf and have about the same thoughts as you. It's a very nice shooter, but does not fit my hand very well. I've had gen3 subcompacts for several years, and switched to gen4 when they came out. The gen4 G26 is perfect. I have compact and standard sized gen4s, G43 and G42, but still prefer the G26.

I have (2) 30s and after re-evaluating the .451 caliber I have no desire for a Gen4, the caliber wars between the GAP and ACP have pointed out weaknesses of past, and present. The future for me retires them and my interests lie with smaller and faster. Would appreciate a 9x23 offering( LOL)

What Glock presents in the future depends on present liabilities and how it's handled. Good Luck in your quest.

Any Gen4 G36 needs either an extended grip to take full advantage of the length of 6rd magazines, or the availability of flush 5rd magazines.

I agree. I hate having to hold my pinky out like a Brit sipping tea in order to drop a mag. I've said this before, who ever stood back and said "yup This is a good idea " should be slapped. I don't care if they leave it a gen 3, extend the mag well.

i agree if the G4 update includes proper length grip (or 5 rounders) that woudl be great and i have said before that a 9x23 woudl be fantastic carry package im sure they could get 10 rounds into the package and i woudl buy one over any single stack 40 357sig chambered piece
it would be cheaper for glock also to have 2 cal options on one G36 frame instead of building a 40sw that woudl be 90% as thick as the G36 any how

How about a 9mm in the G36 platform?
That magazine size should hold 10 or so if designed for it.

I would like a thinner g19/36 size pistol without being micro G43 thin.
Maybe in Gen 5 with no finger grooves and RTF.

By far the slowest seller in the line with the possible exception of the GAPs, with the lower receiver and most of it's parts shared by no other model.

That's a deadly combination, I would not expect it to receive a Gen 4 retooling.

EDIT - I looked at 2013 data for a high volume gun store. The Glock 33 was a non-GAP gun that sold fewer than the 36, but it shares LOTS of parts with other models. This particular store sold 5 Glock 36's and 201 Glock 19's that year. Over 100 23's, 100 17's, only 357's, GAP's, and the 36 in single digits.

to some of the posters
why 9x19 when there is room for 9x23 (ammo cost is one thing but ..)
to the 357sig in a g36 why give up a round or 2 if you can get the same performance out of the 9x23
got to use the space avaible in the grip smartly
edit to add
wonder how many 9x23 rounds would fit in a flush fit mag in the currant G36

The Glock 42 (.380) and Glock 43 (9 mm) filled a hole in the American market for Glock. I see a limited appeal for a single stack .40, unless law enforcement is requesting it. The Glock 26, 27, 33, 36 and 39 seem to cover all the concealed carry bases. Likewise, Glock already has the full size and compact sized guns already covered in all calibers. A longslide .357 Sig or .45 Gap seems to be the next logical step. Both rounds have flat trajectories which should make them attractive to competetive shooters. Would Glock ever make a 1911 clone? Everybody else is.

Why?

G36/ 230 gr. / Ten yards/ Five rounds/ Five seconds/ One handed...

Yes the 36 is Glock I shoot the most accurate by far. Perhaps a GEN 4 frame refresh would stimulate sales for the 36. And hell while I'm dreaming, throw a accessory rail on the frame. Ah nothing like a tactical single stack .45!

I have a Gen 4 Glock 30S (made from a 36 slide and a G4 G30 frame). It is my daily carry gun. Still, if Glock brought out a Gen 4 G36, with a reduction of that awful hump in the back and the improved mag release of the G4, I'd have to buy one. Just like I'll have to buy a Gen 4 Glock 21S if they bring one of those out. (smile)

G36 was my first Glock. Still have it. It is an awesome accurate shooter. Never afraid to cc it. These days of summer I cc my 42 quite a bit.

Summary, G36 is already perfection even though it gives me Glock knuckle.
