I own both, they are different guns. I do not carry either, but if I had to the 220 would be my choice. The 21 is just to damn big and heavy fully loaded. The 21 is used as my bed side gun becuase of the 13 round mags. The 220 sits in the closet and was shot forthe first time last month in over 5 years. I do love the 220 but all I shoot now are glocks. Not because I think they arethat much better but because I like that my night stand gun (21) operates the same as my carry gun (27), my office gun (23), and my truck gun (22). In other words I made a decision to train and practice with one type of gun all with the same mecahnism and for me this was the glock. I did not want to need my gun and forget that I was using a 1911 and foget to unlock it or not be expecting such a light trigger etc.

In a nut shell, my recomendation is get one type of gun/action etc and practice with it and don't get yourself confused with multiple guns.
Beware the one gun man who trains regularly

I liked the grip on the Sig better, but the Glock offers a lot more firepower as well as myriad of easily found and afforded custom parts. I chose the 21SF with GNS as I felt it was a better all around value (being $250 less) as well as having a much better and consistent trigger out of the box. I plan on getting a custom barrel, spring, guide rod, trigger job and spare mag, and will still come in around the price of the Sig. So custom, competition Glock or stock Sig? They were both at the top of my short list. And When I compared the 21sf to the 226, I thought it was just about the same girth, but with more ammo capacity in a bigger caliber for $350 less. Glocks Rock, even though they are called tupperware by many. Personally, I would prefer a custom 1911 to either, but money is an issue. You could probably sell your sig and buy a new Glock for about the same moolah. I have to wait until Christmas for mine though :(

I shoot best with the 226. I have the 220 and the 228 along with the 26 and the 27. My ammo of choice has been .45.

I have just started with the 26 and really like the smaller size. The 228 is a little fat for my hands which are not so small but arthritus controls me a little :)

I appreciate reading all the knowledge generated on this forum.

The uniformed cops here carry Sig P220's. The cops that I talk to wished that they carried Glocks. They call the Sig a boat anchor because of the weight.
I like Glocks, but my issued P220R is amazingly accurate. I think a P220R for HD/range and a G-36 for CCW would be a nice combo. I'm pretty close to trading in my G23 for a G36, since I'm supplied with plenty of .45acp ammo.

I have a G21, and have has both 9mm and .45 ACP P220s. NYC Drew's matrix is a good comparison. While a 13 +1 round G21 loaded to capacity is a tad weighty, I much prefer it to my previous P220s. The Glock trigger is easier to master, and the gun is less complex and more durable.

I actually like the Glock sights, albeit with the caveat that I prefer the steel version to the polymer. Regarding night sights, an excellent day/night combination can be had with Trijicons, which are available from Glock. The Trijicon front sight blade is thinner than the Glock alternative front sights.

Since 2006, there have been some persistant reports from credible sources (see www.m4carbine.net) of spottiness of SIG-Sauer's quality control and diminished parts quality.

Best, Jon

I own both and have carried both in the past. The 21 performs identically to all my Glocks and functions flawlessly but doesn't stand out from the rest (part of the charm). The grip is blocky and big so I find my 23 just fits better.

The P220 however is special. It shoots straight and fits like a glove. Shoot one and see if you agree. If you don't the 21 is less expensive and holds more rounds.

I own both and love both. The 220 is a more conventional handgun single stack. The Sig points and shoots well. I first owned the G21 but the grip was just too big. The sf is just right. If SHTF I would go with the Glock and a couple of hi cap mags!

I have the 220 and agree with another poster that they are top heavy to me. The G21 handles and points more natural. The 220 is a fine weapon. But for the extra rounds and the handeling characteristics, I vote for the Glock. I happen to like the fatter grips of the Glock vs. the SIG. Which is why I am so fond of my 229 but much less so of the 226 and 220. To each his own. I would also concentrate on a consistent manual of arms at some point in your decision process.

All of this is why I am about the sell my 220 and go G21sf. I just want to know if the G21sf is made with the new generation slide and grip. Held a .40 cal Glock with the new stipled grip today and loved it.

When my Dept transitioned to semi Autos we tested Sigs, Glock, HK, and S&W.the testing was pretty close between the HK , Sig, And Glock. Price being a factor, along with after market support and training. Glock won over the other two. now almost twenty years later. The Sig and HK both feel strange to me clunky sort of, and they both seem to have a bunch of unneeded controls. I am a Glocker the G-21 IMHO is the best bang for the buck you can get

I've owned both and still have the G21. Earlier this year I bought a G21SF.

The DA/SA trigger is the major detractor for me but I also object to the top heavy feel. It is made worse by the high bore line above the wrist. The 220 always seemed to jump more in the hand than the G21, even shooting the same ammo.

Lot's of people love their SIGs. I'm under whelmed, but YMMV!
