How so?lol I can tell it's a fake just by looking at it.
I've had 2 though.
You're definitely right about that. I also wish people weren't so willing to buy obviously stolen crap off ebay like "Trijicon MRO, like new, no box." Take away the scammers motivation - much easier than trying to catch them and it'll save people, like the OP, a headache. What a trainwreck for the consumers/customers. Ironically, created due to Amazon's liberal return policy.
In your case, you're being diligent when making a used purchase. All too often buyers aren't, and they get hosed.I buy used stuff off of ebay all the time.
Something like a trijicon dot sight should have a serial# that you can call the company about prior to buying.
An honest seller should have no problem with providing it.
Don't sweat it too much. Just check out the product you purchased in a timely manner (no offense, OP). If you were ripped off, return it. Amazon is very pro-customer.Geez, I'm a little concerned by this. I buy stuff from Amazon all the time. So far, so good.
The rings around the adjustment dials are the wrong color. How so?
I have a real one that says "Pat. Pend." on it and the adjustment dials are different.
I don't believe most of the clones out there exist for the Airsoft crowd... many dishonest folks out there looking to make a quick buck. That's why the copy is so good. There's a bunch of manufacturers out there that make very good clones, that can be had for about $30-100 USD, depending. Unfortunately, there's a massive worldwide demand for good looking clones in the airsoft market, so they'll continue to exist for a LONG time.
It won't stop until people quit looking to score a sweetheart deal on every little thing they buy. You're definitely right about that. Pretty sure they're made in the USA.The ChiComs troll eBay and Amazon continuously looking for any item that sells in volume. Since everything is manufactured in China they just turn their OEM assembly line into a "clone line" after hours. The materials are different (cheaper) and the attention to detail is suspect.
If they can clone an iPhone and an F15, they can clone anything.
When I order online I immediately inspect and compare, passing the sniff test it will be used, otherwise back to Amazon it goes.
All anyone has to do is to go to Alibaba.com and look for your item. If you see it there, that's a dead giveaway.

I definitely agree with the second part. I've known some guys that are/were pretty extreme airsoft/mil-sim dorks. In their circles, the gear needed to look legit, or they generally wouldn't buy it. And that market is pretty huge. Hence why China made clones of various gear doesn't only exist with optics, rather exists with practically everything in that realm.I don't believe most of the clones out there exist for the Airsoft crowd... many dishonest folks out there looking to make a quick buck. That's why the copy is so good.

Want the best? Buy the best; but expect to pay for it.
May I ask what you paid for it? Normal price is about $490.Bought a MRO from amazon and put it away till hunting season. When I went to install it months later it would not zero. I had been to long to return it to amazon so I sent it to Trijicon. It was a fake. I have owned 5-6 different Trijicon products but had never seen a MRO. It was a good copy.
