CZ Experts – CZ Shadow 2 SAO?

Is anyone familiar with this single action only version of the Shadow 2 (SKU 91245)?

https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-shadow-2-sa/

I have a 75 SP01 Tactical that has a good DA/SA trigger, but it’s not as nice as a good 1911 trigger pull. I don’t think the 91245 is a custom shop gun, so would the trigger be much better than the SA pull on my 75 SP01? Or would I need to step up to something from the CZ Custom Shop?

And assuming the 91245 trigger is an improvement, I can’t find one anywhere. It’s on the CZ site, so I’m guessing it’s still in production?

Anyone know if this is something that’s always hard to find? Or maybe they only make few here and there? Or maybe I have to pre-order and just wait?

Thanks for any replies.

Is the TS the Tactical Sport? Per the website it's discontinued. Was it replaced by the Tactical Sport Orange? Doesn't say discontinued, but can't find them in stock anywhere in 9mm.

Hmmmm . . . . Wonder if Cajun (or any other trusted shops) could upgrade the trigger on my SP01 to anything approaching a higher end CZ? Or are they just different classes of guns?

And as long as I'm asking a bunch of questions, anyone have any experience with the Dan Wesson DWX? Looks to be a cross between a CZ and 1911.

I only have experience with CGW, but I can tell you that they did a fantastic job on my P-09. 2lbs 1oz. SA, and 8 lb DA. No light primer strikes.

Yes

Probably

CZ makes them in batches. The TSO will show up.

Approaching the Shadow lines, yes Cajun definitely can. Close to TSO, I doubt it.

Not for sure how hard it would be to find one. My local dealer actually carries pretty good selection of cz's s2's, TSO's chezmate's and 3 or 4 cz custom shop models I haven't seen a soa S2 yet.
I can tell you the factory cz s2 trigger out the box is pretty damn good in the single action mode. The double action mode is what gave me the most grief.
When I picked my s2 up I was orginally going to go with the cgw kit. But ironically enough 1 week after I picked it up apex tactical emailed me about a preorder list for there cz s2 trigger kit. On they few apex products I've tried I've been very impressed with them so I rolled the dice and went with there kit.
The factory s2 SA trigger pull has smooth clean short take up to the wall , the break on mine was probably better 1/32" to 1/16" at most creep and the te creep was smooth. Reset was ok positive fairly short. All in all it was pretty damn good for a factory trigger.
The apex kit is primarily for the double action pull and that was a night and day difference to the factory double action the overall pull weight was alot lower and the take up was night and day smoother.
With the last fraction of the pull that allows me to prestage some. That helps me personally on DA from my limited experience on DA's.
I wast expecting the SA pull to be better from the kit I was already satisfied with it from the factory but it was better the pull weight is probably the same but now there is zero creep at the wall it's straight clean break I cant feel any creep what so ever at the wall . The reset seems to shorter and is certainly more positive.

Sorry for the long post hope it wasn't to rambling.

Everything I've read tells me CZ custom shop, or Cajun Gun Works can get any CZ trigger feeling pretty dang good. So I assume they can tune your SP-01 pretty nicely. The big difference in your SP-01 and the Shadow 2 is the firing pin block. I have read Cajun Gun Works state that removing the fpb only takes away a very small amount of takeup, but not having it does improve the trigger pull, if slightly.

The Shadow 2 SAO is on my short list of choices for next range toy. I have not handled one, but hope to get my hands on one soon. Like you and many others, I'm not sure if I want a Shadow or SP-01 with some tweaking, or maybe something different alltogether. With CZ, you have alot of options.

I've shot CZC shop guns and own two Cajunized CZs, CGW has the edge. I'd still order a CZC gun and probably eventually will. CGW can get your trigger wherever you want it, you just have to call them and specify. They are good guys and will work with you, you won't be disappointed. You will get a tag, telling you what your trigger breaks at when you get it back.

I don't think the DWX is in the wild yet, so you're not going to get much, if any, feedback.

I don't have much experience with the SP-O1 pistol platform but I think the frame size might differ slightly comparing it to the S2. The TSO/Czechmate frames are considerably larger than the S2 frames are so you should be aware of that fact. My TSOs and Czchemate fit my large hands like a size 12 glove but my S2 feels considerably smaller to my hands. My trigger finger TIP falls onto the trigger shoe perfectly on the TSO/CM frames while the trigger on the S2 hits my trigger finger at the first joint.

I've got my S2 trigger tuned to be as good or better than the CGW and CZC triggers I've tried but the S2s are nowhere as short and as light as my 14 oz [factory] triggers are on my TSO and CM. Trigger snobs will certainly feel the difference but the beginner and or average shooter may not, during slow fire / dry fire range scenarios?

So on Cajun Gun Works site it says you can’t drop ship them a firearm and have to complete a 4473? Does that mean you have to go to an FFL ad have them ship it for you? Is this a new trend, or just Cajun’s policy? I’ve shipped firearms for custom work in the past, but that was several years ago.

Seems a little complicated, but considering the cost of shipping a firearm oneself, it may be about the same price if the FFL has cheaper shipping options. Or am I misunderstanding Cajun’s policy?

I think the standard TS is discontinued in favor of the TSO.

Thanks for all the replies and answers. I started out wanting a heavy 9mm 1911 double-stack. My first contender was a RIA 1911 9mm double-stack. They were hard to find at the time. Once someone had one in stock online, they didn't last long. I did a buy-it-now on Gunbroker (4 available at the time), paid for it, and then started getting the runaround from the seller as to when it would actually be in stock. After a week, I asked to cancel the order, had to ask again after a couple of days, and then had to contest a non-paying bidder report. A week later, my card was credited for the purchase price. Then. . . one morning Grabagun had them in stock at a very low price. I immediately purchased and then got an email later that day they couldn't complete the transaction. At least they refunded my card immediately.

All this got me to thinking I should reconsider. I recently purchased a RIA double-stack in 10mm and really like it. Big, heavy, good trigger, but as so many say, not the smoothest edges. My 10mm RIA is fine to shoot for 100 rounds or so, but I might put 200+ rounds through a nice heavy 9mm, so maybe I should look for something more refined.

After all the advice in this thread, I went to a couple of nicer shops and checked out what CZ's they had. After holding CZ Custom Shop guns as well as the Shadow 2, I decided on the Shadow 2. I guess the custom shop guns had better trigger pulls, but I couldn't tell the difference. I believe the Shadow 2 has the best SA trigger of any pistol I own.

Thanks again for all your help.

For the same money the SA CZ will shoot circles around just about all the 1911s. :dunno:

I’m on the same search as the OP.

I have a CZ P01 as my only 75 series CZ. It’s one of my favorites. I started out wanting to get a full size 75, but really liked the feel of the Shadow 2. Definitely liked the front and rear strap checkering, the trigger guard undercut and high grip never tail. Then when researching I found the Shadow 2 SA on the CZ website.

would the SA versions SA be that much better then the DA/SA version’s SA? Or am I overthinking this. I’m not a competition shooter. This would be a range toy. I’m just an average shooter.

I want to treat myself to a nice CZ 75 for my birthday, but don’t want to go too much above $1200
