I was shooting the CZ 527 M rifle this morning

What a nice rifle.

For shooters that are into AK, SKS, 7.62x39, etc, round this can be an additional fun "plinker".

I bought it 9 years ago but for some reason I don't get it out much. I have plenty of ammo.
I'll have to remedy that, because like I said, it is a fun shooting gun.

It's accurate, even with some of the different "cheap" AK ammo.

It has a "set trigger", which you do not want to touch at all, until the crosshairs are centered.

I only shot about 35 rounds this morning. Wanted to shoot more but it's just way too hot and the Sun was shining directly down on the shooting bench.
I'm ready for some cool weather.

Cool weather, just how often does that happen in east Texas? Oh and nice looking rifle.

I love mine. I put a Bushnell 1X-4X AK optics scope on mine. CZ says the chamber is optimized for steel case ammo, and that thing puts up some very tight groups at 100 yards with cheap ammo. My own reloads pattern tighter, but they would require the scope to be re-zeroed, so I stick with the steel case stuff.
The first time to the range, I put 100 rounds through it without flinching. But, the next day, my shoulder felt like I'd lost a kickboxing match. Still, it's nice to know what me and the gun are capable of.

I was curious about the recoil. I had shoulder surgery years ago and haven’t been able to shoot anything bigger than a .308 semiauto since. My AK platform rifle is no problem, but I didn’t know what to expect from a bolt action in the same caliber. I recently learned that Ruger is now producing one in the same caliber.

I didn't know that.
I have a bunch of Chi Com steel case ammo.
When I first shot it I was surprised how accurate the CZ shot that stuff (Russian to).

Oh hell yes. I got my wife a 527M for a deer gun and it puts 5 Tula 123 grain FMJ in three inches at 200 yards, from a rest. She flattened a nice doe with it at 220 yards last year with one round of Barnaul Golden Bear soft point.

Very nice. I am very tempted to pick one of those up. I was thinking a smaller fixed power scope would look good and be reasonable since my closest range is 100 yards only.

It handles great as well.

I had two of the old Rug SS mod 77 in that caliber in the
early 90s, was a limited run.

Shot many groups around 5/8 to 3/4'' at 100 yards, even
with .308 bullets, they had a .310 grove dia.

Mostly I shot cast boolits, a 170 Lyman 311041 with
five to 5.5grs of 700x would do 1050 fps and would do under
moa at 100 yards, very quiet too, also shot that boolit over
2000 fps with good results. There are better boolits than
that lyman for 2000 fps though.

If I ever get another bolt gun in that caliber, would try
these molds, they have worked good in other guns and
were designed for the 7.62x39,

https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/0000690385/double-cavity-mold-c312-155-2r

I have those molds in both two and six cavity.

Would also try some of these,

https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/0000690362/double-cavity-mold-c309-113-f

have molds in two and six cavity also.

I mostly used H335 powder for fast loads, 2600+fps
with some 125gr JSP.

Don’t shoot the 6.5 Grendel or you’ll be hooked! Great deer buster with little muzzle blast or recoil. For deer out to 200yds. It’s sweet. I remember back during the previous Regime you couldn’t buy a 527 in 7.62X39 at any price.

Handy, accurate rifle that's cheap to shoot. But I wish they'd make it with a higher comb for scope use. And reverse the safety to a US-style configuration.

I got the CZ 527 carbine in both .223 and the .30 Russian Short. They are wonderful, classic rifles of wood and steel. Accuracy not so good for me as others report, so I put fixed 6X scopes with wide, bold reticules on 'em.

No, I'm not going to try for driving tacks. They're beautiful ( the .223 has a Mannlicher stock) and handy guns for quick shots that don't demand MOA grouping. They just FEEL RIGHT! And, of course, they're about the cheapest centerfire calibers for plinking.

I agree. Being able to use AK mags would be nice.

Actually, that was the first thing I thought when I picked up the rifle yesterday and was looking for the spare CZ mags.
Check with Midway, if you care to do business with them.

I have a CZ 527 Lux in 22 Hornet. I really like the rifle. I wanted a 22 Hornet with iron sights for close in varmints and the CZ was one of the few.

Hi Adam!

Yeah, I tend to like smallish, easy to handle guns.

I even shortened the barrel on my SKS. :)

Looks awesome Buck. When I worked behind the gun counter that CZ carbine was easily my favorite, small rifle. It's pretty too!

That reminds me. There was a guy on YouTube who had a Mosin stripper clip holder on the but stock of his to hold two extra mags in.

Great rifles.
I have three, the 527 in x39 and another in 223 and the wood stocked American in 223.
Of the 3 I like the x39 the best.
It really shines with my handloads.
Lapua brass, cfe blk powder case full to top of mouth and 125g tnt heavily compressed load.
Across the crony at 2625fps and shoots under moa.
That turns it into an impressive killer.
Brass life is actually really good.

Adding a PIG buttstock shell holder helps a bunch with cheek weld and you don't lose your spare ammo like with cheaper options.
It's a smoking good ranch rifle, shoots amazingly flat with that load and hits like a hammer out to 300.
I know that some here are likely to question that a x39 could be a 300 yrd killer , it not only is, it works way beyond expectations with that fragile bullet at lower velocity it holds together, mushrooms well and drives deep.

I love that underrated killer
