I’m looking for real-world experience from someone who has carried both. I currently have a 26 I carry appendix. I find I carry it more in a G19 holster because I prefer the extra holster length. I have a 19 I can sort of carry sometimes without printing a great deal but usually it’s too thick.

Using the longer holster made me think maybe I should get a longer gun. I’m interested to know how the 48 stacks up against the 26 and I guess the 19 carry-wise. Not concerned with capacity.

The 19 and 26 are the same thickness aren’t they? So why is one too thick and the other not?

I should clarify. The thickness with the grip length of the 19 is beefy on my body. The thickness on the 26 is less of an issue because the grip is shorter. My thinking is perhaps the 48 might hit the sweet spot.

I carried the 48 and 26 at about 3 o'clock, the 48 did feel a lot slimmer carrying IWB but I did not like the way the longer grip printed. Carrying appendix you might appreciate the slimmer 48 and not notice the longer grip.

Another personal note, I had trouble transitioning from the 26 to the 48 for range time. If I shot the 48 exclusively for a month everything was ok. If I alternated between the "single" stack and double I was off and had to adjust to shooting the slimmer pistol. I carry the 26 now and just deal with the extra thickness, I spend most of my range time with my 19.5 and no issues transitioning to the smaller 26.

Thank you. Exactly the type of insight I’m out for.

Do what I (and many others) have done: Get a G19 stripped frame, and chop it to G26 dimensions. Now you have a G19 with a G26 grip. Your original G19 frame is un-altered, and you can switch the upper between frames in seconds.

I have both the 26 and the 48. I carry them both in Vedder LightTucks at about 2:30. I guess I should say that I WOULD carry them both that way, but the truth is that the 48 gets almost no carry time, mainly because of the grip height. Loaded and in their holsters there's less than a third of an ounce difference in weight, so no difference there. The thinness of the 48 is cancelled out by the fact that it's almost an inch longer, so I feel it more against my leg. At the end of the day, printing of the grip is the main issue. Well, that and the fact that I shoot the 26 a bit better.

When I bought the 48, I had a notion that it might replace the 26 as my EDC, but there's no way that's going to happen.

One more thing. Both guns have more than 2000 rounds through them. The 48 has been 99.99% reliable (3 malfunctions in 2124 rounds), but the 26 has been 100% (0 malfunctions in 2407 rounds).

One thing I've done with my 19 and 26 holsters - I carry both AIWB in Kydex holsters with "wings" to help hold the grip. I've also added foam wedges to the back bottom of the holsters - the help keep the grip angled in closer to the body.

Finally parted with my G26; while it shot far better than it looked or felt, it was simply blocky to hide.
Flatter is easier to hide on my skinny carcass.

I have a 19, 26 and a 43. I can easily conceal the 43 and 26 IWB under a t-shirt. But not the 19 due to grip length.

And in truth, the 43 with a two round extension giving the same grip length as the 19 can be problematic, again due to grip length.

I don't have a 48, and when they were announced I looked forward to seeing one. But in truth FOR ME that grip length will print. Probably no one but me would notice, but it bothers me. My 26 with standard magazine goes with me more often than not now days.

I carried my G26 for Four years in a pocket holster (yeah I know, can’t be done). I have carried my G48 for about a year AIWB so it’s not an apples to apples comparison. I shoot the G26 much better than the G48 though. Another thing I like about the G26 is I can keep a G18 mag in each vehicle and in the nightstand.
