It appears more like a slide-stop. Anyways , I dont use the slide-stop as a "release" anyways. I'd be happy if Glock and others offered a slide-stop delete and just use an empty magazine to lock the slide open like the CZ P10M does.

...yesterday. Not like it needed a break-in but shot 500 rounds, half JHP and half FMJ, no issues at all. I did lube it out of the box, so there is that. I aad to sight in my Holosun and attached one of my cheapo Olights. The trigger feels like a 6lb-ish trigger but we measured it at just under 5lbs at the range. What can I say, accurate, great ergo's, good trigger, etc. I love Glocks but this my favorite polymer gun atm. I will buy more.

Two negative things. One is the small slide release, just don't like it. I have large hands but use the medium grip, the large grip works but the small won't lock in. Not a big deal but it is defective.

Handsome piece and has some very nice features but as yet only available in 9mm.

I have one Glock - a G21 Gen4 and am looking for a G30 Gen4. Why? Simple (to me) both are .45ACP and can use the 13rd G21 mags.

Don't misunderstand; I have 9mms and have owned/used a bucket full of them.
My favs are the HP or its clones and CZ75/75 because the form factor is very HP and even though DA/SA they can be treated like an HP - Condition One carry.

My 1st preference is any decent 1911 - decent for me nowadays means better sights to support my waning vision and of course a well setup trigger.

When I find a good DS 1911 in 5" & 4.25", I'll probably move the G21 along. Until then, that's my go-to. It eats everything I feed it, is accurate and almost beyond belief reliable.

On 2nd thought, I might keep it; kicking a good friend to the kerb for something more aesthetically pleasing would be poor form.

But 1st, I need that DS 1911.

The Echelon is something I will definitely have to look at and if it feels good in my hand I'll likely get one. I particularly like being able to mount a RDS without a plate or having to send the slide off to be milled. Speed in taking out the FCU is not important to me, it's not something I would do often and I like the ability to change chassis and grip inserts to customize the fit.

    3 Grip Sizes
Alternative grip modules give shooters the ability to find a configuration that fits them best. Available in small, medium, and large, each grip module accepts the Central Operating Group and all three backstraps.

I keep trying to find the grip modules to see the size difference but from that same picture I see everywhere I can’t tell

Springfield expects the grip modules August 15 and retail price $65.

It's the Slide Catch/Stop. Was/Is never intended to be used as a release (be prepared for the slide to automatically rack whenever you load a magazine because you wore out the edge of the slide STOP using it to release the slide). See it all the time and then they ask me why - this is why

isn't that a feature? Thats pretty much how I release my Glock slides by driving the mag home.

Then your slide stop is worn (or magazine follower spring isn't pushing up hard enough on the stop/catch) because it NEVER should automatically release that easily- SERIOUS
(known to cause negligent discharges if people aren't practicing proper finger discipline)
Fire arms instructors are VERY strict about this

LEO's are the worst for incorrectly racking the slide
One good thing
Part is pretty easy to replace and may as well go with an extended version (ghost or better) because it's easier to get your thumb on

Doesn't mean one can't use it as such, regardless of what it is called. Semantics dude.

My Glocks all have done that since new... I'm pretty sure it’s by design, not a worn part. Heck my 19.5 still does it when I put in a brand new (Kagwreks) slide stop in it. It’s due to hitting the gun up from the bottom, the direction the stop/springs there. Like opening a Master lock by slapping the side.

Its basically how I always reload mid fight with those pesky steel limbless robots. I certainty could be wrong, its just something I have noted since my first Glock.

EDIT: I got a buddy that's Glock armorer (or whatever its called) for his department. I'm going to ask him.

I watched one video of the Echelon where the slide was releasing when she inserted the magazine, my Echelon does not release when mag is inserted hard, funny thing a lot of the posters are talking about the slide being hard to release with the small slide lock, mine releases easily and I think the placement of it is fine.

I'm a little confused, first post you claim slide stop was never intended to be used to release slide, next post you recommend getting the extended slide stop because it is easier to access.

I'm starting to get intrigued by this pistol. It will be interesting to see if they release a shorter slide. One in a compact, G19-sized slide with a compact grip module might be neat to have.
I consider a pistol auto-releasing when I insert a new magazine to be a feature, and wish all pistols did that. After all, I can't recall ever having a need to insert a new magazine and leave the slide locked back. I'm skeptical an auto-releasing slide CAUSES an AD. I'm also skeptical about wearing out the slide-release. I have one Glock that is probably the only pistol I have that has thousands of rounds through it, and 99% of the slide-releases have been using the lever (I HATE slingshotting). Still locks back reliably, and I have never been able to make the slide auto-release. YMMV.
