Anyone tried the Kimber R7 Mako?

It’s basically a G26 that’s very well refined.

Trigger especially(!!), also grip texture, mag release, easier to rack, rail, (but it is proprietary), optic installed or ready, 13+1 in a lot less length then the official Glock 12+1 mag, And by the recent Ammoland review it bag rested 25 yard 5 shot groups at 1 to 1.5 inches compared to a Gen 4 26 that are usually 2.5 inch or the Gen 5 will do 2 inch.

anybody got one?

Nope.

I'm not going to be the guinea pig on that more enclosed barrel hood by this company that had one of the worst functioning recent micro 9s. Not with a 10 foot pole do I trust they know something no one else does.

While lock up is at the lugs, all my autos have barrel hood slide wear. Enclose that? nope nope nope. Saying nothing about ejection potential decrease room for spent casings? nope.

Seems Mako sales are very low..

Surprised how many answers from those who don’t own one.
mine has been 100% reliable and I, at this time with out extra practice, is the only gun I will attempt a 10 yard head shot with as I can double tap that 95% of the time. With My 26 will I can only do that at 7 yards with a Luepold delta micro. But put me behind a 43 with the same delta micro and I won’t even attempt to stop a bad guy with a headshot as I can’t count on it at any distance. I think it’s the trigger and the handle size. They all three have the same handle shape. Trigger is closer in the 43, maybe that is it.

Solo being so horrible is why they needed to and succeeded on a home run with the R7. It sure seems to me like they just took the G26 as a baseline and improved it.

and again, so many with no hands on experience Are commenting based on a previous True failure that was rightfully discontinued as if a company like Kimber would not learn from that and realize that they MUST hit it out of the park with this one.

anybody else got some Hands on experience?

Except...the Kimber Micro 9. Not a perfect product either.

So you're premise that they put out possibly the worst gun in recent history means the next one has to be perfect...um...

I just said, no. I'm not buying after the last 9mm they put.

The Mako has been out a while. A great gun sells or has buzz. How many people you know have one or are on gun forums other than a Kimber forum?

But, but, it’s not a Glock, but, but, it’s not a Sig, but, but, I’m not a Kimber fan… It gets really boring hearing about all the Kimber hating. Any hands on experience review?

And that’s my point. I have had a 100% positive experience with this and I am a Glock fan boy of sorts. I can’t believe that it’s so good but most of the press has been very positive. I remember a whole lot more trouble when the 365s came out.

I am looking for information from non-review people, just normal guys.

I had one. The trigger didn't seem to have any pre-travel which I prefer on a carry gun. And it didn't have a discernable wall which I also prefer on a carry gun. I took the gun completely apart and found that I needed three hands and another person to put it back together. It took me hours to get it back together. I sold it because of the trigger and not passing my simplicity test.

Shoot Straight in Lakeland has several.

I asked the difference between the $599 Mako and the $699 Mako.

The difference is that the $599 comes with a range bag, extra magazines and a holster, the $699 does not come with any extras. Neither have the optic.

The guy said the $699 was old stock.

I don't see the special listed on their site .

My only Kimber experience was with a pos ultra carry. The gun was bad and Kimber service sucked. Even if their new gun is great there is always the chance you get a bad one.
I'll stick with companies that have a proven track record with quality products and excellent service. There are plenty of great options in the CCW weapon market.

It's an interesting looking pistol, but I'm not really in the market for a carry gun right now by ANY mfg. {I have quite a few in the safe}
No Kimber hate here, I have owned and carried an Ultra Compact and the standard Compact, nary a bobble, I just decided I wanted a Dan Wesson more.
Interesting takes from those who have owned the Mako.

I have allowed several others to shoot mine and all have loved it. From a range instructor to one of the shooters that is not the greatest and frequently has problems with the Glocks jamming due to limp/poor grip. The funny thing is the Mako never had a jam or any problems. Every shooter loved it! The range instructor even asked where it was purchased, as he is interested in getting one. The whole small ejection port doesn't seem to be an issue.
