Yes yes, I know...the cartridge nobody asked for. I picked up a Shield Plus .30SC a little while back for a good price and found some ammo online that was pretty cheap, not quite 9mm cheap, but cheap enough. Shoots well, recoil is very similar to 9mm but probably a little less. Performance from what I've seen online with 100gr HST and 115gr Gold Dots seems good.

The point of this post is to say that a G43X sized .30 Super Carry would hold at least 13+1rds in a stock Glock magazine. I stuffed as many as I could in a 10rd Glock G43X magazine and got 13rds. With a caliber specific follower that could possibly get to 14rds, who knows.

A G19 sized gun would hold at least 19+1 rds. I stuffed as many as I could into a G23 mag and got 19rds, with a follower specifically designed for .30SC, 20+1 is a possibility.

Haven't tried full size G17/22 mags.

I'm sure Glock has no intention of ever releasing a gun in .30 Super Carry, but I do think that G19 sized gun that holds 20rds is pretty good selling point. Higher capacity than 9mm, which is a good thing. Recoil would be even less than 9mm, that's a good thing. Ammo can be found for a reasonable amount if you look around for it online. It seems to perform fine in testing.

Just some food for thought, just in case Glock is listening. More options is never a bad thing.

I'd trust S&W before I'd trust Glock with a new caliber. Glock can't even make their .22LR work correctly, had lots of trouble on their 42 in .380 and now their 28 in .380 is available in the US and it's having problems even though it's been around since the 90's.

While I’ve always felt the .30SC was/is a non-starter, I’d be interested to see a 43/43X small ccw type pistol in this chambering.
I'm not sure that adding what would most likely be one round of capacity to the 43 really breathes new life into it. Ditto for +3 on the 43X. Smith & Wesson already chambers the Shield Plus in .30 SC, taking the 10-round mag to 13 rounds and the 13-round mag to 16 rounds, and there is NO buzz about people seeking out the .30 SC guns.

.30SC is barely breathing if it isn't dead already, and if not then it will be in a few years. The cartridge is not even needed, and another like the .45 GAP it is a solution in search of a problem plus an epic flop out of the gate that is struggling to be relevant.

I seriously doubt Glock will make anything in .30SC because the caliber simply won't survive long enough to grab anyone's attention. There's very little real interest in it, and it hasn't grown since the .30SC arrived.

I actually think you're on to something and if they had gone this route initially the caliber might have gained some traction.

I'm thinking of the FN 5.7 pistol as a comparison. When it first came out, one of the big selling points was more capacity. Yes I am aware of the ballistics of the 5.7 and that drew people in too, but I also saw a lot of people stoked by the 20 round capacity in a handgun.

Alas, it may be too little too late for the 30SC?

I.M.H.O.....

Glock got their head handed to them on the .45 GAP cartridge.

I would not be looking for them to sign onto another "boutique" round anytime soon.
Glock lost their reputation for innovation a long time ago. About all they know how to do now is 9mm and 9mm short.

I bet there is some sort of exclusivity agreement Federal and the couple of manufacturers making .30 SC pistols. Probably a timed agreement. It's been what a year since .30 SC came out? Watch bet we get some new offerings soon.

For me the only reliable Glocks are my double stacks in 9mm , 45acp and .40S&W. All the single stacks have had problems here and there. Their .22LR are not reliable , and the 36 has always had problems.

If 30SC is a solution to a problem no one asked, so is 10mm.

9mm and .45ACP specs are over 100 years old.

And?

9mm and .45ACP specs are over 100 years old.
There is a reason these are still relevant and are a mainstay, even after 100 years while oddballs like GAP and .30SC fizzle, become irrelevant, and then quickly die off within a few years.

9mm and .45 ACP will soldier on long after everyone forgets what .30SC even was.

FWIW, it took years for both Jonathan Arthur Ciener, Inc. and Advantage Arms to develop and modify their .22 caliber conversion kit for Glocks to achieve fairly reliable functional performance. Both use aluminum slides.

The 30 SC is a very high pressure cartridge cartridge. I would imagine he muzzle blast out of a short barrel to be painful especially inside a dwelling or a vehicle. I once accidentally fired a 30 carbine Ruger Blackhawk outdoors without ear pritection and Iost 85-90 per cent of my hearing for 4-5 hours and my ears rang for days, and that gun had a 7 1/2 inch barrel. and my 357 sig with a 4 inch barrel is bad enough that when shooting it, I need to wear both ear plugs an ear muffs and would never want to fire it indoors.

How bad is the muzzle blast with your shield Plus in 30 SC? Do you need to double up on ear protection like you do with a 357 Sig?
