I’ve seen enough Taurus CS horror stories to avoid the brand completely. Glock, Ruger, H&K, and S&W in addition to others all have great CS departments in the event of a defect.

My Taurus revolver works now....finally! It took two trips back to the mothership, and they still didn't fix it. Had to pay for one trip. Also had to pay a local gunsmith to fix it properly. Have right at 500 rounds through it since then, and so far, so good. I'm just crossing my fingers it will last.

Taurus QC stinks. Taurus CS stinks.

I wanted a 3-inch six-shot revolver, so I bought it. Quote the Raven - "nevermore!"

Yeah, I almost did it to get a nice 3 inch 357. Nah. SP101 3 inch, or nothing. I don't like S&W 3 inch guns, but they're all fantastic.

I still have my Taurus G2C and G3 that I grip chopped. I purchased another G3 a little over a year ago, that was nothing but issues, went back to the mothership and still came back with no fix. I ultimately worked on it and got the feed ramp geometry figured out and got it reliably feeding before I traded it in at a loss. My TX22 (Used, broken in and cared for by a great previous owner, verified to work well lol) has been good, but I won't be buying a new Taurus ever again.

I forgot, I also got a GX4 with such a bad feed ramp that it was kind of like wow. That was shortly after the G3, you figured I would have learned my lesson.

I used to be a big Taurus fanboy, but not anymore. If someone really really needs something, I'll tell them to save a bit more and get a Canik or really the best is a Shield Plus at $399 right now. No more Taurus G2C or G3C. Even those are a serious roll of the dice.

This will be my last purchase of a Taurus product. I bought a M-65 .357 and was all excited about getting a 3" .357 again. Well one of the chamber's wouldn't extract and I'd have to force the casing out with a rod. There was a burr inside one of them, that, and the gun shot awfully low and grouped poorly even at 20' to 30'. So I returned the gun and after about a month I e-mailed Taurus about it. I got a generic "it takes about a month to resolve issue" return E-mail. So I wait, and wait, and after about 3 more weeks I E-mail again 3 separate times and didn't get an answer. Finally I got an E-mail that basically said "did you send this gun in and is it here"?

Finally! I got an E-mail saying the gun is a bad apple, is going to be destroyed, and were offering a replacement or refund. I would have taken the refund but I have already bought accessory's for the gun and didn't want to lose out on it. So now I have to pay an additional FFL transfer fee. They not only hadn't known the gun was bad but they didn't even know if they had it. This was a pretty bad experience and one that wont be repeated.
Feel better now?

It's called word of mouth advertising. In this case, it happens to be bad.

I am glad that people have a visible way to share experiences. Unfortunately, human nature is to focus on the bad and share it far more often, but hey. Manufacturers know this, or they should, and they should take it as a message that they need to improve some things or they risk losing sales.

We do have many cases, here and other internet mediums, where people share positive experiences, too.

Voting with your dollars is the only real vote you have.

Taurus guns for the money are OK. as you have found out, their service SUCKS Big Time. i had worst experience than you with their service department. having said that, i have a TX22. one of the best 22s that i have ever owned. if it needs repaired, i will fix it myself. if that is not possible, i will trash it before i deal with their service department again.
I have heard lots of people that have TX22s on other forums say how nice and reliable they are. I am happy for them. With my luck I would get a lemon.
I was ne of those guys that bought a Gen2 Remington R51 as the Gen 2s were supposed tobe the new and improved models. Not mine. What a POS. It went back to Remington 3 times before they offered to replace it. The dirty bastages sent me a refurbished Gen 1. I sold it.

I have great news for you.

The Taurus 66/65, the flagship Taurus...7 of mine had binding issues where Taurus cut and replaced the extractor rod for all of them...so it wasn't going to be a painless journey to begin with...

I bought 7 across 2007-2019. Why 7, because I want them to work. What a great price for something with a better trigger than the GP100. However, I've moved on to 686s and just keep reminding myself never again.

I bought two Taurus revolvers around 2009/2010 or so. I forget what model they were.

The snub nose 5-shot .38 would bind up frequently. The 8-shot .357 with an 8 3/8” barrel was a real pleasure to shoot, but the cylinder started feeling very wobbly after a few years.

I got rid of them both and thanked God for teaching me a lesson. I, too, hear great things about the TX22. But I’ll never buy another Taurus product as long as I live.

I recently bought a TX22 about a month ago . It is reliable , but not very accurate at all . I have read about problems with the barrels , but that is supposed to be fixed by now . I am not seeing leading , but the rifling doesn’t look good . It doesn’t look smooth and very shallow . This was my first and probably last Taurus .

Taurus has always been terrible, nothing new here.
But wait a minute...... Taurus has new management and they have improved the quality control and service, remember??? Isn't that what every Taurus gun review says? And then there are the "my Taurus has been 100% since I bought it" comments.
Seriously, I don't feel any sympathy for anyone who buys one and has issues with it. It doesn't take any time to research issues with the brand. Much better to save up a few more $'s and get a quality revolver from a manufacturer who stands behind it.

Well when I think back of all the guns that I bought, sold and traded, the only guns that I sent back to the manufacturer was two Taurus Guns and a few other Taurus Guns that I had were sold!(n)

Anyone saying the

With 7 66s across almost two decades all with binding issues but this is the flagship Taurus model...I know for a fact that whenever someone says quality has changed, they have zero information to back that up.

The amount of guff in my very hopeful purchase of the GX4 was enlightening. I even pictured the problem with some refusing to even acknowledge their existence.

I’ve always started looking at the 856’s to buy a cheap revolver for $300 and shoot at the range. But always have my hesitations. Looked at a buddy’s and was not impressed.

I have a 442 Pro series I bought years ago before they started to mark them with “Pro Series” on the side. Found it used private sale for $300 because it “wasn’t accurate” and the guy said he couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with it. Have carriedit at work as a BUG and shot couple thousand rounds through it without issues. It’s beat to crap but keeps ticking. Easily shoot the AZPOST semiauto qualification with it. Better use of my $300.
