Hey everyone, I recently acquired an absolutely beautiful Polish Wbp Jack. Everything is perfect on her from what I can tell. Only thing is this, I’ve noticed it’s quite picky with magazines. I’ve tried polish steel and Bulgarian steel mags so far and I can’t even get them into the mag well unless I literally use all of my force. Is this common for the jacks? Or did I just get one with an improperly cut mag well. The us palm it came with goes in and locks like butter. Anybody else have this experience?

Thanks man! You have the exact same one as mine too haha. Mines the Polish Bakelite grip they’re selling on AOA. Do you mind posting a picture of your mag well so I can compare it to mine when I get home?

This mag that I took a pic of is surplus Chinese and it fits pretty tight but it slides in easily. Some surplus mags fit looser than others. The Romanian mags fit the loosest.

I will very soon once I’m home. If my memory is correct then I think your mag well looks very similar to mine. Honestly the polish steel mags I tried were the ones that sgammo is selling and the bulgy mags were the newly steel manufactured ones. I’ve got some Romanian surplus on the way. That could possibly the problem 🤷🏻.

I've seen that with Romanians, I just took a file and relieved the sides of the mag well carefully, stopping to check progress every few file strokes. It didn't require much metal removal and it solved the problem entirely. Touched it up with cold blue when I was finished.

My surplus Romanian mags are sloppy loose. The Romanian mags function perfect even though they are sloppy fitting. The Chinese and the Polish polymer mags fit perfect with no or very little slop.

Agreed. I’m hoping it’s just the magazines and not the rifle itself. I’ve got some poly reinforced lug bulgys coming in along with some steel Romanians. Hopefully that resolves the issue.

Those new mags hopefully gives you a better idea. Also, AoA should be able to help you figure it out as well.

Poor quality manufacturing is a common theme on ak47 based weapons and magazines,
After filing, hammering, etc. one can develop a cadre of working mags for their personal weapon.

Just took out my calipers. Those steel mags are a millimeter wider than the us palm magazine. The dimples are the issue.

The dimples on each side of the receiver? If so, I’m pretty sure those are in spec and then the magazines are out of spec.

Yes. I think the magazines are too wide for the receiver. It’s strange though. They fit my rifles just fine🤷🏻
