That's the one I have. Bought it in August. No regrets, it is beautiful. I put the new Polish sling on the day I took these photos. $1,227 with a $100 discount from Atlantic.

@Papa glock also has one and he's done amazing work on his wood furniture.
I have a new WBP Jack, but the more I look at it, the more I think it should be a safe queen. The fit and finish is simply too gorgeous to go to war with. :giggle:
It's beautiful. Now I command you to drop that thing in the mud then mag dump it until the handguard catches fire.

7-8 mags on full auto will catch them on fire.
I think we were supposed to have PPE on but forgot our helmets, eye pro, gloves at the camp.

My battle buddy shooting a VZ-58 hitting everything but the target…

Me on my 7-8 magazine putting a hole in the center of the target as the hand guards catch on fire (damn receiver was burning my fingers on reloads).

I’d get a Polish WBP Jack. I can say that because I already own one. Since I already own one, I think my next one will be a Zastava underfolder when they are released to the public.
You can find the Polish WBP Jack in 7.62x39 or 556.
@Jade Falcon thank you for the kind words!

As far as readily available AK’s the Zastavas are good. I particularly like the Kalshnikov USA KR103. If you aren’t a purist the PSA offerings are good specially the premium line with the FN barrel specially in the 103 pattern. The 103 seems of being the best of the 47 and 74. The classic wood ones can be stunning though.

I have one of their 104’s. It’s been great.

I can't speak to any personal experience, but I would be weary of any newly-produced KUSA rifles. Their customer service is in the dumps right now, and their products are not up to par. Not surprising, because Jesse James owns the business with his wife, and Bonnie Rotten is the best spokesperson they could find.

AK Reddit is really not fond of them. But again: no personal experience here. I'd try my luck with PSA long before I tried KUSA.

Bonnie Rotten the porn star? WTF is it with that F-tard and porn stars? Then again you can take the boy out of the trash. But apparently you can’t take the trash out of the boy.

My 104 is a PSA

Yes, the porn star. Prolapsed anus and all. Her pooper fell out before she even reached 29.

Wow did not know that about KUSA. My friends each have 103’s and I liked them a lot. I own a PSAK 103 with the FN barrel and have been really happy with it. Another friend runs Zastavas they are really nice. My brother has an old pre **** show WASR that has been pretty good. My other friend well he gets parts kits and builds them the way he likes it which isn’t an option for the OP

I purchased one of PSA’s premium AK’s two years ago. It was, by far, my worst firearm purchase ever. It was completely unreliable even after two trips back to PSA and I found the customer service reps generally were indifferent and unhelpful; One was outright rude and dismissive. I had to post a video of my issues on another forum before PSA would acknowledge the problems. Very odd that the post and video disappeared not long after. I sold the rifle for a loss (fully disclosing the problems) and was happy to have it out of my safe.

Man that sucks. I’m sorry to hear that. Yeah PSA’s CS needs a lot of work. They need to and are supposedly looking to hire enthusiastic and knowledgeable people to help un_#ck their 💩 CS. I know of several who’ve applied without a single call back, text or email. Hopefully their hiring manager gets his head outta his _ss and starts hiring some people who want to be there and do the job right. I also know a handful of people who own their “premium” AKs, who have nothing but good things to say about those AKs. Hopefully that experience hasn’t completely soured you to PSA.

It has. I’m happy for those who have received a good rifle at a good price from PSA, but I’ll never buy anything else from them.

After selling the PSA rifle I bought an Arsenal SAM7SF and shortly thereafter a ZPAP M70. Both have been flawless and I love them both but currently the dollar-to-value ratio is way in favor of the ZPAP. In my opinion, priced at about $900 the ZPAP really is the best buy in the AK market today.

As long as you're doing the research do yourself a favor and include the Czechpoint VZ58. I went through the same process as you, looking at the better AKs and was just about sold on an Arsenal when I came across the VZ58. The only thing it shares with an AK is the ammo (and, sort-of, the look). I found it to be very accurate, light and handy - it has a milled receiver and lots of little things like holding open on an empty chamber, being tapped for optics and the ability to have the magazine loaded or topped off using stripper clips. People complain that the magazines aren't a dime a dozen like some AKs are, but milsurp aluminum mags are readily and reasonably available. Look into it - it's a winner.

Arsenal SGL-21-84 but they're $3,000 with a folder now lol.

Given the options (or lack of)

I would recommend the PSA GF5. Buddy has one. Every bit as good as my Arsenal with a better finish and more accurate barrel.

In fact, I'm looking to sell my SGL-21 folder and buy a couple PSA GF5 AKM clones.

Edit:

Fox WBP Polish AK is 100% legit but also pricey at $1,300-1,500 for a stamped AK.

Just take a plane to Pakistan. Drive to the gun market. Buy a real Bulgarian Krink for $600-800 US and grab a bunch of crates of Chinese x39 AP for us too.
