Ok, that would be one of their exceptions. Good looking pistol.
Thanks! Wanted a Wilson with 0 markings of any kind except what was required. Even had the logo take off rear right of slide.

I kept the grips as is though (didn't feel like getting non wilson grips and the medallion is another slight hint as to who built the gun.)

In essence a Guncrafter No Name styled gun built by the fine folks in the Wilson Combat Supergrade section.

What are the best high end forged slide and frame 1911's money can buy ? Alchemy , Cabot , Ed Brown , Les Baer , Nighthawk , Springfield EMP , Wilson Combat , etc. ? ... *I don't care about gold plated bling or engravings - just the best classic 1911's of highest quality and reliability money can buy in a semi custom , custom design . What are your thoughts and experiences on the subject ?
Some of the 1911/2011s I own: Nighthawks, Wilsons, Staccatos, old school STIs, Dan Wessons, Sig Sauers, Springfields, Colts, and RIAs. I can feel the fit and finish differences.

If I were you and want the "...highest quality and reliability money can buy in a semi custom , custom design.", perhaps you should contact Dan Bedell, Hayes Customs, or any of the higher end custom shops and have them build you one. This way, you get exactly what you want.

Good luck in your search.

To those that mentioned full custom smiths like Heirloom or Chen, just remember these folks use base guns for their builds. They are certainly some of the best fitted with awesome attention to detail. However, they aren't using the slides and frames that Cabot does. In fact, most these smiths don't manufacture any parts.

Food for thought

I have a problem calling anyone who uses a Colt frame and slide the absolute highest quality 1911 on the market. They may have the best attention to detail and fitting is superb, but highest quality to me means more than that.

I second FC’s choice:
I like this guys work among others:

This latest issue just arrived.
The Les Baer tested most accurate.

Not very impressive accuracy at 25 yards. When the new members of our team were talking to our Sergeant Major about buying our first guns for Bullseye and Service Pistol, his advice was, "if it won't hold 1.5" or better at 50 yards, you've wasted your money." Those groups are about like, or slightly better than a stock $800 Springfield Range Officer.
