Am I the only one who hates optic slide cuts on pistols when I have no intention of mounting an optic? There are a couple of new pistols out right now that I would love to own but will not because manufacturer does not offer them without slide cut. I would definitely be interested in the Hellcat Pro as well as the new P365 Macro, but will not buy either unless they offer non slide cut version. I guess I'm just a minimalist. I do not like gadgets and gizmos I do not intend to use. I went as far as building my own P365X using my P365 Slide. I also paid to get a non cut slide from Sig to go on my P320X Compact then sold the X Slide with the cut.
I would love to see this... P365xl sllide

WITHOUT the slide cut!!! Just plain stainless. Would love to get my XL, add a Wilson frame and stainless slide. But I am not gonna make it a $1000 gun! So I wish Sig would just offer the dang gun with a solid stainless slide (I have a P365 with stainless slide already.)

Dang, you seem a bit OCD. I guess the plates that cover the mount are unsightly to you? I mean there IS a valid reason for the slide cuts.
There are still tons of options for you though....

Yep, there IS a valid reason for them. They are there to mount optics, but at this point and with my current eye sight I'm just not interested in putting glass on my pistols, so yes, some of it is OCD. 😆 and i am comfortable enough in my own skin to admit that. Again, it was a thread created out of curiosity of others thoughts. Even though, yes its a tool, I simply prefer the cleaner look and others do not. I'm cool with that.

I don't like them. I think the optic cuts hurt the aesthetic of the firearm.

Not long ago, I was considering a SIG P320 AXG Classic. The optic-ready slide didn't look bad in pictures, but once I saw one in person, I just felt it really diminished the overall appearance of the pistol. That really cooled my jets, and now I don't want one.

My eyes aren't getting any younger, and one day I may very well want an optic on a pistol. But until then, I don't want a pistol that's optic-ready.

An optic plate is what the Picatinny rail was 25 years ago, more and more guns came with them standard and now it is becoming the norm, even micro pocket 9s are coming optic ready.

It’s unlikely but possible for screws to back-out or shear off, letting the cover plate fall off. What happens if one shoots an MOS slide with the plate removed? Is the slide too weak without either a plate or optic mounted there? Too light to function correctly? I see the OP’s point about not wanting extra parts he won’t use.

Simple option is called blue "Loctite". I already use it on all my iron sights, even if factory installed, seen a few fall off others guns at the range and tiny screws are super hard to find at my age. Also as the front sight gets blurryer at 79 years red/green dot optic is looming in my future, in fact just bought a Blue Label 43X MOS to go with my non MOS 43X EDC. Darn, now need another holster, better make a reservation for dinner out with my wife! Already built a Nomad slide for my 19 gen5 with RMR cut and installed a Holosun 507C red dot on it.

Optics on pistols are not going away. I see and believe all pistol slides being made should be optics ready. But if you don’t want to run an optic. Leave the plate on.

I have it. Still run 'em. Just had to learn where the dot actually is in the starburst.
That's why I really like the Holosun "circle-dot" setting, works for me.

There is an advantage to the circle dot. My preference would be for the delta or chevron reticle.

You're not the only one. I can't think of something I'd rather have less on a pistol besides front cocking serrations than an optic. It's not a rifle. It just adds more unnecessary bulk to what is supposed to be a reasonably compact way to defend yourself.

I'm not against the design for the sake of freedom of choice.....if putting an optic on your pistol does it for you, then by all means do it. But it's not for me.

You are the only one.

lol. It’s good to have options. One day when your eyes go south, you will be looking at red dots.

If there is a plate covering the optic area why should you care. You don’t like the way it looks?
But, but, but... That would make practical sense. The OP and others who hate optic cuts are more worried and fixated on looks and firearm beauty pageants. The fact that they simply can ignore the optic cut and never put an optic on it, it increases resale value and the number of potential buyers, and it gives them the option to easily add an optic later on at no extra cost if they change their mind doesn't matter to them. All that matters is looks and clean lines.

When I want looks, clean lines, and a nice looking gun, I buy a steel or metal framed handgun. I don't go into buying a polymer Glock, Sig, Springfield, etc worrying about how pretty it looks. You know what else, just about all of my polymer framed handguns have a rail on them to that I never use. I am not going to rob myself of the opportunity to own a good tool that otherwise fits me over something so insignificant. I just don't get it.
