Am I the only one who hates optic slide cuts on pistols when I have no intention of mounting an optic? There are a couple of new pistols out right now that I would love to own but will not because manufacturer does not offer them without slide cut. I would definitely be interested in the Hellcat Pro as well as the new P365 Macro, but will not buy either unless they offer non slide cut version. I guess I'm just a minimalist. I do not like gadgets and gizmos I do not intend to use. I went as far as building my own P365X using my P365 Slide. I also paid to get a non cut slide from Sig to go on my P320X Compact then sold the X Slide with the cut.

I don't mind them at all. I don't like gadgets and gizmos that I never intend to use, like forward slide serrations, which I hate, but the little blank plate for optical sights is hardly even noticeable and more likely than not adds to the resale value of the gun.

I like the flexibility. I don't mind a Glock with an MOS. It won't impact reliability. If someone hated red dots and would never use one, I can see not wanting one. But I like my red dots, and don't mind a gun being prepped to accept one.

It’s not a gadget or a gizmo. It serves a definite purpose. Red dots are not new. A lot of folks like them & use them.

I could care less. Most of my duty and personal pistols have optics on them.

Thanks for the responses. I started the discussion just out of curiosity. I was not suggesting there was a problem with slide cuts or red dots. We all of course have our own preferences. Sounds like I am in the minority as most responses seem to have no problem with cuts and screws showing on top of your slide. Personally, I just don't like the look. I'm not putting optics on my pistols for various reasons, so I would like the option to buy a Hellcat Pro with a clean uncut slide. To each his own. Just a fun thread to see what others thought. Thanks

I don’t care if it’s cut or not. I look at it as having a higher resale value if I decide to sell down the road as everyone seems to want optic cuts now.

I don’t like the slide cuts. One of the main reason I like Glocks is that they have few parts. The MOS is three more parts to add to the gun.
I don’t mind 2 different versions, one with and one without, but I don’t want my gun to have a slab cut out and a patch screwed back on to cover it. It a place that water or gunk can seep under and one more part to have to remove for a detail strip and deep clean. Screws can corrode and stick and get broken off during removal. I have seen this happen and it required a milling machine to get the screw shank out.
To each his own. I have nothing against optics although I don’t want one on my gun. Therefor I don’t want the cut out for it on my gun. I hope they just make a smooth top version for the rare few like me that like them simple. Production wise it seems easy enough, just let a batch of slides miss those steps during the milling process.

I'm the opposite. I'd prefer them on all my guns even though I currently don't use optics. (Except for experimenting with the one that came with my Performance Center Shield .45).

I may decide I want optics later or, because optics are so popular right now, it adds resale value if I choose to sell off a given pistol.

Dang, you seem a bit OCD. I guess the plates that cover the mount are unsightly to you? I mean there IS a valid reason for the slide cuts.
There are still tons of options for you though....

Nevermind, I was duped. 9 posts in 5 years???? You ever get the feeling GT is doing some mumbo jumbo IT magic behind the curtain. It is like Oz.

Personally, I agree with some of the above about when the plate jacks with the positioning, or even removal of the rear sight. But other than that I think the manufacturers are doing exactly the right thing by including them on most models.

If they don't, they have missed sales to those who want it. Those folks will NOT be happy and they will complain about it. The only happy people in this option are those who like to find something to complain about. They are always happy because they can ALWAYS find something to complain about.

If they DO include it, they will miss out on (IMO) far fewer sales to people who will not buy it primarily because it has a plate. That group will be unhappy, but I really believe this is a very small group. Those who want it and those who don't mind it are happy. Those who like to complain, will complain... so ultimately they are happy too! WIN WIN!

So including it makes a lot of folks happy. Those who want it, and those who like to complain!

If they have to tool up to support two different manufacturing / assembly processes for the two different models, that adds cost, and the price goes up on both! Guess what... we will complain about that!

If the dealer has to stock both versions at all times it increases his overhead and prices may or may not go up. Either way, if he has one and is out of the other then most customers are going to want the one he doesn't have. Again... the complainers win!

It is a TOOL. I carried an MOS since shortly after they came out. It was carried in the open, rained on, spit on, snowed on, almost puked on once, and muddy ditch dipped more than once. It never gave me any issues and I only took it off to clean under it a couple of times. Never found anything under there but dang did I ever COMPLAIN about the extra 2 minutes it added to my mud removal session.

Geez.... I gotta stop complaining like this.
