I have no experience with the Walther. I have a 19X and a VP9 and I prefer the 19X. My son has fired both of mine also and prefers the 19X.

Reliability and durability are fine. So long as it's not a newly released pistol. Their new pistols suck because they use customers to beta test them.

I just don't like Glocks because their ergonomics are terrible and they are overpriced for what they are.

Glock has an excellent marketing strategy. Its a $350 gun that they sell to the public for $500, to make up for giving them away to military and police.
DHS tested the Gen 5 Model 17 and it performed well. Very well, in fact. It was the most reliable pistol they tested at 25,000 Mean Rounds Between Failure.

So, I’ll say that Glock has the most demonstrable history of reliability (despite the Brass to the Face for later model Gen3 and early Gen 4 pistols).

And SOCOM adopted them for some not unimportant reason(s).

That said, I like the VP9, the Compact PDP seems like it will perform well in my hands, I freaking adore the CZ P-10C.

I’d take the Glock over the HK VP9 and Walther PDP.

Both the HK & Walther have more muzzle flip than the Glock.

I find the HK VP9 to be insanely accurate.

The VP9 is slippery

I’m not a fan of fully tensioned or cocked strikers even though it makes them easier to shoot.

I prefer HK’s magazine release (paddles not conventional).

Love HK as a brand.

Glock is like a gamebred Pit Bulldog: nothing there that isn’t needed; as tough as an anvil and just as reliable; no frills.

Magazines are more plentiful and less expensive.

Parts are more plentiful and less expensive.

Easier to work on.

More reliable.

Glock ergonomics... is like the frame to be more rounded and less slab sided.

Glock could use - like most pistols - more aggressive stippling all the way to the top of the frame.

I can purchase a Striker Control Device for the Glock bit not the other two since the striker is fully tensioned.

I’m not fond of how the Glock front sight is installed - I prefer a dovetail design.

You can’t deny that the majority of Glock releases suffer problems initially that require correction. They sort them out fairly quickly, but the facts are the facts.

I like shooting my HK VP9 a bit more than my Glock but from your list if I could own only one pistol it would be the Glock 45. All three on your list are terrific pistols but the Walther PDP being new is not nearly as proven as the Glock 45 and VP9. It really boils down to personal preference and priorities.

All are perfectly fine. Like the majority here seems to be saying, I also prefer the VP9.

But the Glock has cost and ease of repair advantages. The odds of needing major repairs are so low, I would shoot them and see if the ergonomics of the VP9 justify the slight bump in upfront costs.

Longer term, Glock magazines are usually less than half the cost of H&K magazines (at least in the United States). If you need to buy ten magazines, that pushes the economic advantage even more strongly in the Glock direction.

I have Glocks, but do prefer the VP9 for shooting and natural fit/feel, and I accept the price penalty of the magazines.

No. I will not buy 10 magazines. Of course i will think the cost because i want it for everyday carry, for duty and for dry fire.

Magazines are wearable/disposable items.

You’ve not been TRULY shooting.

Ten (10) would be the minimum number of magazines upon purchasing a pistol. Another ten the following year would make a nice stash and an additional ten rounding the number to thirty would be ideal.

For Glock it’s easy.

For HK, FN and SIG-branded magazines... not so much.

You didn't mention supressors (silencers). Are suppressors allowed where you live? If so, in the US, Glock does a TERRIBLE job providing threaded barrels. They occasionally have a model they make them for, then they dry up, and we are forced to source third-party barrels if we want a suppressor. H&K has threaded barrels readily available for the VP9. I don't know the legality of this where you live, but it is a weak point of Glock unless you don't mind the third party route. Just something to consider if it is relevant to your needs.

G45.

It's what I carry at work, and I've grown to really like it.
4" (ish) barrel seems to be a real sweet spot for a duty gun, IMO.

Said by a guy who's never had to carry a gun for a living in his life :)

Why ? How do you choose that pistol so easy ?
I carry it, its a more refined 19X, which if you have actually handled and shot one, will most likely be found to seat itself better in hand, while exhibiting superior balance, and ergonomics! I reject the Hk out of hand as I just have no love for them, while the Walther I have yet to even lay hand upon. I believe the Glock-45 to be distinctly superior to the Hk, I cannot say anything about the Walther one way or the other.

Fascinating, I can't say I see this. The much maligned "lip" on the 19X grip is a plus for me (gives my off hand pinky a little ledge) and I much prefer the 19X finish to the super slick Gen 5. Also, no front serrations, which looks much better IMO and aren't needed with the tacky finish vs the, again, really slick Gen 5 finish.

Sure, the color is a little gross but it's not as bad in person as it looks in pictures.

Still, all that said I don't have a 19X any more after the Gen 5 19(s) replaced it in every category.

Why donyou prefer 4 inc barrel ?
Me personally because any longer any my eyes have issues finding the front sight quickly. Both vision and the fact that I'm colorblind.

Also I feel like the slightly shorter barrel balances better. I love my Sig 226, wish it had a 4" barrel. Got rid of my Glock 17s for 19x and 19s (once Gen 5 removed the grooves), etc, next 1911 I buy will have a 4" barrel over the 4.25" commander. Just fit me better.

Some LEO (most retired now) I know like the slightly shorter barrel as they found it slightly more comfortable sitting in the squad car or a desk.
