The 45 is my favorite all time Glock! I picked up a 19.5 stripped frame and just move the parts and slide over when I want to scratch the 19 itch. The Nomad 9 frame is also awesome and highly recommended! For me, I notice no difference when carrying.

Okay I’ll ask, and I’ve probably asked this question 100 times here, for what?
I have both. I love my 45, it’s my favorite Glock.
The only Glock I’ve ever shot better than my 45 was an old 34 I used to use for competition.
But for CC the 19 is better.

I’ve had several G19.5’s. Three in fact. Traded away the first two and gave the third to my son who really likes it. I just bought a G45 a couple of weeks ago and for me personally it feels a lot better than the G19. Just that little bit extra on the grip length made a difference for me. The extra couple of rounds capacity is a nice bonus as well.

Bought a nice leather holster that has the 30 degree FBI forward slant so it helps to conceal that little bit of extra grip just fine.

Since the top end is the same, I think it boils down to hand size and grip comfort/preference. You could conceal a G45 if you wanted to.

I have large hands but thinner fingers and my hand fits perfectly into a Gen 4 19 grip with the finger grooves. The hump hits the right spot on my hand and I shoot it very well, and obviously my pinky isn't cramped. My 17 (same grip as G45) OTOH doesn't feel bad, but feels different. The hump hits in a different spot and the trigger reach is slightly different...feels shorter. I don't feel like I shoot it quite as well as a 19, but I also have 10x the trigger time on a 19 than a 17. The girth of the G21 grip actually does better for my hands and trigger reach than the 17/45. But again, much more trigger time on the G21. The G21 and G19 would be my two favorite Glocks.

Ty for your response, but is the 45 hard to conceal at all? how bad does it print?
You didn’t ask me, but my experience is the full size grip is too much to CC, for me. It can be done, but it’s hard to move and it not print. At times it doesn’t matter. Other times, it does. I get that most people don’t find themselves in those situations. My future holds significantly less of them, than the past. Even the G19 size can be hard to keep “deep concealment”, if you are expected to be active. No matter what you carry, the right holster and a good belt are very large parts of the equation.

I appreciate it, as well as everyone who provided feedback but a decision has been made and will make a whole new post.

... if the 45 was listed as a full size its a no brainer to roll 19
This is an interesting comment. Why would that be a “no brainer”? What does it matter the category they put it in? The G45 has the same size grip as the “full size” G17. The slide is only around a half inch shorter, on the G45. The G45 isn’t easier to conceal, than a G17, it’s just more comfortable to sit down when using a straight drop holster. (And it has nice balance, which is a different discussion)

When compared to other makes, the G45 is the same size as their “full size”.

I don’t understand getting caught up on marketing jargon. The G45 is a “duty” size firearm. Not much different than firearms such as FN FNX/FNS, Sig P226/229, S&W M&P, etc. They were all designed to be carried into a fight. The G19 size is the smallest that really fits in the category “duty”. It’s also the largest that most people would consider for a concealed carry firearm. Even then, a lot of people find the G19 way too big, for concealed carry.

Now, someone will quote this and comment they carry a G17, concealed, and have for years. Of course, there are always outliers. Today, a large portion of the people who carry concealed think a G26 is too big. The tiny guns really reign supreme (in actual carry time) outside of LE/MIL.

I appreciate it, as well as everyone who provided feedback but a decision has been made and will make a whole new post.
I saw you were leaning toward the G45. Excellent choice. My response wasn’t just for you. People read these posts, for years.

I appreciate your feedback, its not that I got caught up in the marketing or jargon(s), its hard for me to believe that the G45 is a full size pistol. I just bought the G21 Gen 4 and the G22 Gen 5 (the .40 will be here in a week) and those to me seem like full size pistols, but not the G45 so when the site list it as a compact, based on the size and the feel I believe them.. however yes, I'm leaning toward the 45 and as of this AM I pulled the trigger on it.. (no pun intended)

To me, the G45 and the G19X are solutions to a non-existent problem. The problem with concealing a G17 is not the length, it is the height. Putting a G19 size slide on a G17 sized grip, just gives one a G19 that's as hard to conceal as a G17. I have fairly small hands, so the G19 works for me. If it didn't, I'd just get a G17. But to each his own. I don't see the benefit of the shorter slide, but if that's what one wants, Glock is happy to provide.

Well I have a G21 and as of a week from now a G22 and thats enough full size pistols so I wanted something smaller, the 45 felt bigger than the 19 but way smaller than the 21 and the upcoming 22

Got any belt recommendations?

I've been using the Black Tactical Gun Belt from Kore Essentials for the last six months and I love it.

I thought exactly the same thing. As a matter of fact, I said it was backwards.
Then I shot one.
Now I own one.

I thought the same thing about the G43x. Then I handled one for the first time, and it was like a Eureka moment for me. The balance of the gun is fantastic, and it gives me a 9mm option that is significantly smaller/lighter/thinner than my G17, while still maintaining respectable magazine capacity AND a useable grip. I checked out the 19x and the G45 at the same time, and I see them as a great option for someone who wants a G19, but is realistic about the fact that the G19 is already large enough that the slightly longer grip is worth the additional couple of rounds.

We all have our preferences.

Can’t you just slap a Glock 17 magazine with an X Grip in a 19 and voila....Glock 19X / 45?
Yes you can and it works just as well. I use to put a G19 mag in my G26 with an Xgrip when I carried it. That's the nice thing about the Glock compatibility.

Got any belt recommendations?
Ares Gear Aegis Enhanced. Awesome belt made by awesome people in awesome USA. Jake is the man.

Check out their FB pages. Buy it directly from Ares Gear or Tulster sells them. Made from two layers of scuba webbing. "Stiffer is better." Infinitely adjustable.

I have the older Gen1 steel buckle but prefer the newer Gen2 polymer buckle. Have both.

Mine is five years old;worn everyday with G19 IWB;still good as new. Got a spare just because I never want to be without one. You're welcome.
