Whatever happened with this build? Did you resolve your issues?

[QUOTE="Engineering 101, post:
Here are some pictures I took of my SS80. Pictures 1-4 shows the slide and barrel not seated properly. Picture 5 is the lower build front slide block. I will go watch the video on YouTube from Marine Gun Builder and see if it will give me any answers.[/QUOTE]

I have not resolved it yet. I called the GLOCK Store in San Diego. They told me to send an email in regards to the issue with pictures and they would have an armorer review it. I haven't done that yet because of my work schedule has picked up since the whole COVID stuff. Also, they are limited there and behind. The guy I spoke with on the telephone told me it could take a couple of months before I hear anything back. Now that you've asked, I will get the email sent today.

First, does the slide move freely without the barrel?
If so, does the barrel drop freely into the slide when held upside down, and come fully flush with it (hood to top of slide)?
Does the slide lock (the part you pull down to remove the upper) move freely?
If so, does the slide and barrel seat correctly with that removed?

If all that doesn't give you a pointer, coat the contact points in Sharpie and bang everything together for a bit; that should at least show you what's hitting what.

When I built my SS80, I had to do a lot of hand fitting to get the front block to fit into the frame and for it to sit level. I had to clean up the inside of the front and back legs and radius the bottom inside corners of the rear legs. Once I did all that, the block fit in and was level to the frame. Once I had both the front and rear rails in, I did put it onto a flat honing stone to make sure the rails were level to each other and to the frame.

I used all OEM parts and slide and it worked great from the get go. I also tried the Zaffiri Precision slide that I bought for my Polymer 80 PF9SS frame on the SS80 frame and it worked great too.

And yes even though the SS80 only uses the trigger pin unlike the Polymer 80 version that has a second pin, the front locking block fixes are the same. Here is a photo of where to grind/sand the front block

I suggest watching the Marine Gun Builder video.

I have the same problem with the front block not setting level in the frame. I did all the hand fitting in those areas you identified, but found mine was worse in the saddle between the legs. The edges were just not parallel to each other, not allowing the front to drop into the frame. I did get the block level, but am concerned the front will ride up without it being pinned. I contacted the Glockstore, explained what I was experiencing, sent them some pics and they have a new block on the way to me. We’ll see what that one looks like. If no go, I’m going to pin the front legs level with short set screws, threaded into the front legs. Got that idea from a post on here.

I am not sure why I am having so many issues building this damn thing. I have built many rifles, but his thing has got me frustrated. It's so simple it stupid, or most likely it just me.
Bought an SS80 lower with Glock 43 trigger kit. I got the OEM 43 slide in the mail yesterday, slapped the thing on and the slide won't rack back. It barely budges. I'll pull it and it will move about a quarter of an inch to where I can see the barrel drop very slightly and ejection port opens a 32nd of an inch. That's as much as it will move. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated....

Is the Magazine Removed when you trying to slide back the slide?

I have since built the P80 PF9SS frame and like it a lot better than the SS80 frame. I did a comparison review of both on the Marine Gun Builder forum.

SS80 VS PF9SS

I can say that the front block has not moved on my SS80 build but it was a tight fit into the frame too.
Dude, I want to thank you for your valuable information. Our SS80 has always been kinda ho hum. It would generally run but for many the slide would not lock back on the last round. Also trying to take the gun down it was stupid hard to get the slide off and back on. Also when you racked the slide it sounded like there was gravel in there.

I have like 1100 dollars into this thing lol. It's been collecting dust for almost a year.

Took it apart today after reading this thread and sure enough the locking block rails were pointed nose up and when you put the slide onto the rails it was pretty obvious. I could not get the damn locking block back out. It was that tight like I must have put it in with a hammer. With some carful prying I was able to get it out of there. I visually verified the problem areas and sanded accordingly until it was the best I could make it.

You can now get the slide off and on and it is so much smoother to rack the slide.

The wife is going to take it to the range tomorrow and see if it finally works to perfection.

Will report back.

I am glad that you got your pistol working and that my information helped you to do so. (y)

I just finished building my first one five minutes ago Glock 43. I could not pull the slide back when it was seated on the frame. I filed down and sanded the front bottom of the frame and it slides back and I can fire the weapon. But the slide does not come back far enough to use the slide lock.

Are the lower parts OEM?

Check the “tunnel area” first (it is where the barrel sits) and make sure it is smooth. Also, polish the locking block and rear rails.

Can you post a pic?
Relaize these are older posts but thought I would try.

Built my first ss 80 yesterday. Using upper and lower from my OEM Glock 43. The slide comes back and stops where the beginning of the slide lock cut out on the slide just begins to meet the slide lock.

The slide does go all the way back if the barrel and spring are out. compared it to my other G43 and cant see any difference. I have disassembled and fine sanded with oil. Very smooth. Any ideas thankful for help.

Not a problem. Here are a few things to check:

Are your pin holes correct? Did the rear hole line up correctly with the rear rail? Many of these builds require adjusting the rear rail to to sit correctly. You should be able to look through your drilled holes with no metal showing

NEVER open/enlarged your drilled holes.

IF all of the above is good, install ONLY the front and rear rails (with pins installed). Using a level block with sand paper or something like this with a few drops of water, to level both rails at the same time.

Your slide should move smoothly on the rails (minus no barrel or recoil spring). If it does not, you are not ready to add the barrel or recoil spring.

If your slide is moving freely, reinstall the lubed barrel, lubed recoil spring, and add some lube to both rails. Good luck and report back.
