The title says it all. I was at the FBI Police Firearms Instructors School (a million years ago) and brought some .45 ACP THV ammo for "show and tell." This is what a round of that ammo, out of my Colt Combat Commander, did to a 100 pound block of clay. Before you ask me, I don't recall whether this is the entry or exit wound.

Projectile weight was 60 grains. Velocity around 2,400fps. The load is a tad "warm." I still have some of the rounds left but I sure as heck won't shoot them in my pistols!

At $15-20 ea. (or more) to collectors, I sure hope you don't shoot up anymore of them!

Those old AP rounds are still highly sought after by collectors (including KTW's, Arcane, SIB and ALIA rounds).

OK, where do I sell mine? I gots me plenty of .38 Special and .45 THV rounds.
I believe they are illegal for civ ownership so selling might be an issue.

Selling old stock is ok.
Making new and selling it, not ok.

Making your own is grey. Technically not illegal from what I can tell, but......

Check the below website for cartridge shows that may be near you. Or sign up at the IAA Forum and contact member DKConfiguration as he's one of the leading researcher's into Handgun AP loads. He might be able to put you in touch with cartridge collectors who might be interested in buying what you have (this way you'll know that they're going to legit collectors).

Thanks!

So, stupid question...what is the downside? There obviously is one, because all the pistol SD rounds you see are much, much heavier and slower. Yet rifles, which are way more damaging, often shoot light bullets very fast. Interesting.

Down side (if you consider it a down side, which I don't) is less penetration and such light weight bullets lose velocity much quicker so long distance shots may be less effective.

Back when I packed the 45acp, I settled on the KTW, always had a mag loaded with them as the last or needed option, they worked like a champ on a 64' Lincoln

That's cool chief. Did the THV ammo have any issues traveling up the feed ramp because of the shape of the bullet?

No idea in regard their reliability as I never fired many of them. They are just too hot!
