ARs are everywhere now and have never been as popular.

Back before the ban I took a couple 20" on A2 uppers to a range and as soon as I took them out of the cases and laid them on the bench it was like I was some kind of terrorist. (this was in California) Most thought they where M16s and the range master made a big scene etc.....

It is always just plain ignorance.

It's weird. Nobody expects your modern car to have spoked wheels, a crank start, a rumble seat, no heat and hand-cranked windshield wipers, but if your gun uses modern materials and ergonomics, that makes it bad?

These are usually the same type of "gun owners" that think their fellow citizens shouldn't be allowed to own any high-capacity magazines, machine guns, or suppressors either.

One constant is that these types of people are usually very opinionated and boisterous with their viewpoint, despite making it readily apparent that they are entirely ignorant with regards to what they are holding such strong opinions about.

They are neither helpful in supporting the 2A nor preserving the citizens RKBA and it causes one to wonder which part of "shall not be infringed" proves as too difficult for them to understand.

:goodpost:

Thats a great analogy!!! I will have to use that myself in the future. I love a solid bolt action "Rem 700" but when I go to the range I love my AR-15! Shoot it all day with low recoil and cheaper ammo than .308 or .30-06.

I do not know of any gun store here in Ky that don't sale assault rifles. I do know of two gun stores though one in Somerset Ky. and one in Richmond Ky. that does not sell handguns or handgun ammo , or any handgun accessories . I been in both once and once I realized this I never went back will not do business with those folks.

That's interesting. I thought handguns were pretty much a non-issue except among certain fringe groups that wish gun laws in the U.S. were like what they have over in the UK.

I love making my super liberal sister-in-law mad. I make it a point to tell her every time I buy a new firearm or upgrade one.

My mother-in-law let it slip one time saying "why would anyone need an ak-47?" I told her "it isn't a need it's a necessity." Total silence from all of them.

side note: The wife used to be the same way. Until our house was broken into while we were at work. She loves firearms now :D

Wow, things must have changed a lot in the past 30 years. I haven't been to a shop here that doesn't have EBR's. Also, last I heard, Ohio has the largest number of registered NFA weapons of any other state.
May have now but in the 1970's it was different.

When I went to my CLEO for a full auto he refused. I had to hire an attorney to change his mind.

When I asked my cousin that was Deputy Sheriff why and how they (the police) would arrest a person wearing a handgun in open carry when the Ohio State Constitution states a person has a right to bear arms. To bear means to carry. He looked it up and said that they would arrest a person "for carrying dangerous ordinance". I said you guys are making it up!

Years after I left I would hear how in Ohio was still one of the few states that had no CCW at all.

It wasn't until the Ohio State Supreme Court rule what I knew all along that the people had a right to carry. Only then did the law change.

I used to be a member of the OGCA and really missed the big guns shows that I used to go in Columbus. Didn't the city of Columbus some how ban that show?

I could go on. There is a lot of gun stupid in Ohio politics mostly from the big cities. I just got tired of it all.

I know one gun shop that doesn't seem to carry ARs new. I have seen a VERY few used ones that they have taken in on trade, but never more than one at a time in the racks. Zero AKs, however.

Mini-14s seem to pass muster, for some reason. As well as any type handgun. I've never asked why, just figuring it was their business what they kept in stock.
Not a big deal; the shop across town sells about all the black rifles he can get his hands on.........

There is an interesting guy @ Cabella's in Dallas that swears that if he has to sell the Barrett 50 Cal to anyone he will quit.

The dude is serious too. He said he will quit as no one should have a gun like that.

I laughed and told him that if thinks a bolt action 50 cal is big banana's some of my friends gun collections would make him cry himself to sleep @ night.
