I just accidentally figured out how to remove the Glock channel liner WITHOUT damaging it. I have a little case neck brush (nylon) that I had bought to clean used brass when I first started reloading. I THINK it's sized for a .223, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I saw some crap in the striker channel of my G29, so I inserted it (all the way), and turned it a bit to scrub it out. When I pulled the brush out, the channel liner came right out. I then just slid it off the brush, and pushed it right back in. You can use the back of the striker (the spacer sleeve) to push the liner back in.

I know many people have always struggled with this piece, so I figured I'd put this out there to help. Most removal methods destroy the thin liner. I also tried it with my G21SF, and again, it came right out, no damage whatsoever. I think it should work with any stiff brush that fits pretty snugly. Here's a picture of the brush:

It's in the center; left is a .40 cal bronze brush, right is a Glock nylon brush (for size reference):

Thanks for the tip, 21Carrier. :wavey:

I've often wondered what would be an easy way to remove the channel liner, in case I ever need to do it myself. I've always been under the impression that it would require using some sort of screw, which would necessitate a replacement liner (not that it isn't an inexpensive part).

Yeah, I had always heard the "poor man's" method was to find a screw of SLIGHTLY larger diameter (just large enough to let the threads grab the plastic), and screw it in. Then, you just pull it out. However, that destroys the liner. Although it's a cheap part, it's still something you'd have to order and wait on.

If I remember correctly, when I took the armorer's course the instructor told us a 5/16 bolt should thread down into the liner and pull it right out. I like the nylon brush idea much better. I recently ordered an extra liner just in case.
