I did all of the experimentation/load work for my 9Major using new brass. Found that with the right powder, it's not necessary.
I start with once fired, usually Rem. or Win. & get 4 loadings with no problems.
The key here is to use a heavy bullet, if you go 9 Major with less than a 124 gr bullet, your pressures are gonzo.
I use a 147, get fantastic accuracy & am using LESS than the listed max loading of Vhit. 3N38, & making major within SAAMI pressure specs, hence the great brass life.
My Glock is limited by it's magazines as far as C.O.A.L. & I use a 1.147".
3 of my mags will work with longer (1.155") but sorting ammo for mags is stupid !
And the 147gr is a sure thing on steel poppers !
