I send back as many Taurus revolvers for warranty service as all other handguns combined that we sell. Taurus autos, on the other hand, I've sent back exactly one in the four years I've worked there, and that was for a problem with the front sight and had nothing at all to do with functioning of the gun. (Wholesale Sports, formerly Sportsman's Warehouse)
Weird, you usually here it the other way around.

Taurus guns are NOT what they used to be!

Kel-Tec guns are NOT what they used to be!

I own a PT1911 and it is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:wow:

I sold a titanium snubbie because it didn't work for ME! I just didn't shoot it as well as I did my KT P-32. That said, I find NOTHING wrong with Taurus. The "haters" will tell you otherwise because they are gun snobs and don't have a mind of their own.

Taurus is good!

Do you consider all of Taurus's products "junk guns"? A lot of people have torn up Taurus's customer service and "lifetime warranty" on this site. I've also heard people rag on The Judge. However, a few of said their rendition of the Beretta 92FS isn't too bad.
I consider all of their semi-autos to be junk, with the exception of the PT-92 series. Any of their guns can work fine, but Taurus's abysmal QC in concert with corner-cutting materials and manufacturing means that one faces an unacceptably high chance of getting a miserable piece of junk instead of a reliable gun.

The PT-92 series guns are the only ones that seem to generally work well. It's definitely not as smooth, refined, and well-made as the Beretta, and Taurus is stuffing it with ever-greater amounts of MIM these days, but it still works well. It's not nearly the value it once was, however, given that it's often barely more than $100 cheaper than a 92FS these days.

I'm not impressed with their revolvers, either. Taurus apparently considers a .007" cylinder gap to be "in spec." I've seen some pretty horrendously rough machining in Taurus cylinder bores -- to the point that fired brass is extremely difficult to extract. I've seen ridiculous variation in the cylinder gap from bore to bore on the same gun. Some people seem to have no problems with their revolvers, but then that's the case with all of their guns. From what I've seen and read, the PT-92 series are the only handguns they make -- semi-auto or revolver -- that aren't a very risky buy.

Well I will gladly be labeled a gun snob if it means I never have to trust my life to a Taurus.

Good luck.

LMAO:rofl:

So be it!

Mine has been 100%.:wavey:

So has my RIA.:wavey:

Say....I hear that Kimbers are pretty much worthless unless you invest an additional $1000 in them.

Typical snob stuff.

My Judge is a flaming POS. It broke before it had 100rds down the pipe, Taurus fixed it. I only keep it for the novelty factor, I dont think it has even been touched in over a year.

I have a PT-92 that is decent. I really like the location of the safety compared to the Beretta. The Beretta feels so much nicer though.

My Rossi/Taurus Model 92 knock off is another POS. Poorly put together all the way around. No redeeming qualities about it what so ever.

I will not be buying anything with the Taurus name attached to it ever again.

I'd buy a dirt-cheap Taurus, or if I absolutely, positively, no-way-no-how could afford anything better. I owned a Taurus 85 revolver that was fine for what I paid.

I had an 85 that was a great little gun, all I ever shot out of it was +P Cor-Bon ammo and it never gave me any problems. I figured it wasn't a target gun, so there was no point screwing around with target ammo. It had a great, lustrous dark black finish on it...I'd buy another one, probably will some day. I wouldn't kick any of their revolvers out of my safe, really. Never really considered buying one of their semi-autos, but I've heard both good and bad about them.

I guess they have gone downhill.
I bought my PT-99 very shortly after Taurus bought the Beretta plant and I swear the fit and finish and reliability has been every bit as good or better than the Beretta.

It's a shame to see them get sloppy.

Do I think Taurus products are junk? No.

Will I ever buy a Taurus? No.

There are other brands I feel the same way about including Ruger pistols and Springfield Arms pistols to name a couple. They just don't do it for me. Their rifles are a different story.
