I am looking to purchase a G29 and am curious as to its similarity/difference to the G27. Pics would be awesome! I've read the specs and I know its slightly bigger but how does it shoot comparatively? Any suggestions would be helpful...Thanks guys!

The new guy is right. On paper the 29 is slightly larger but when the two of them are in your hands, the 29 is WAY bigger. The 27 is truly a subcompact gun, but the 29 is not. It is a chopped down fullsize. Think warthog. Not to trash the 29, I LOVE mine... its just no small tuna.
Have you tried full power ammo? They're a solid step up from most ammo available. I agree though - I find the recoil of a 10 to be more pleasant than a 40! I much prefer a wallop/thump to a crack, and find the 10 to be somewhere between a 40 and a 45.I carry a 29 daily in a IWB holster and it carrys just fine for me and for some reason I like the thought of 10mm by my side!
the recoil is not bad at all to me. I love my 29 for sure!
I have to disagree with part of this statement. While I do not have any personal experience with the G29, I do have a G27 which is very accurate at the 7-15 yards that I practice at. Honestly, I am more accurate with it than my 2nd gen G17. On a side note, the only 10mm I owned was a 2nd gen G20 which I sold after having several issues with it. To be fair, Most if not all of the problems I had were ammo related and the buyer was informed of these issues at the time of purchase. I do not recall the accuracy of this pistol but it was a pleasure to shoot with low powered commercial ammo.slightly larger than the 27 but the power and accuracy of the 29 is far greater than the 27. the 29 could be called the 40 magnum.29 vs 27 as the 357 magnum vs the 38 special.
Why does it look like the 27's grip angle is larger than the others? Just an optical illusion?
I have tried some Norma 10mm a friend of mine had and I bought some swamp fox that is a hoot to shoot out of the 20 and 29! But even with that I dont find the 29 to much to handle Little practice and you are good to go!!Have you tried full power ammo? They're a solid step up from most ammo available. Well if you have little experience with the G29 and only fired it once with less than full power loads then I can safely say that you take issue with a point you have no knowledge of.I have to disagree with part of this statement. +1 The key word is practice.I have tried some Norma 10mm a friend of mine had and I bought some swamp fox that is a hoot to shoot out of the 20 and 29! But even with that I dont find the 29 to much to handle Little practice and you are good to go!!
Actually, I said that I have no experience with the G29. My only 10mm experience was with a G20. My disagreement was with your assessment that the accuracy of the G29 is far greater than that of the G27. On a recent trip to the range, I was able to place approximately 3/4 of 54 rds I fired at the target in a 3.25" circle almost dead center. This was at a distance of approximately 12 yards firing semi rapidly. I am an OK shot at best (qualified sharp shooter with the local IDPA club). I feel that the fliers were caused by my lack of practice in general (I havent shot in a little over 2 months) and my lack of practice with this gun in particular, not the gun or the ammo. The G27 is definitely a handful to shoot and my hand was pretty tired after 150 rds or so. As you and I both stated, I do not have any personal experience with the G29 to compare it to, but I do not believe that the accuracy of the G29 is far greater. It may be a little better at the 10-15 yard range and even more so at the 25 yard range. You obviously have more experience at the longer distance and I have no reason to doubt your experience. In closing, I do not wish to start a pissing match with you on this. I guess, I just disagree with your wording. The G29 may be more accurate overall, but especially at the shorter distances, I do not believe it is far greater. This discussion has convinced me to see what it and I can do at the 25 yard mark. Good shooting!Well if you have little experience with the G29 and only fired it once with less than full power loads then I can safely say that you take issue with a point you have no knowledge of.
My G27 is accurate with .40 and more accurate with a .357 sig barrel. It is more snappy with the .40 than with the .357sig ,in my opinion, and I have fired at least 2000 rounds out of my 2 G27's. In my opinion, the G29 has a much different recoil impulse with full power loads. It is a heavier gun by 6 ounces and the weight of the gun gun has an effect on the recoil. I find the G27 recoil seem to me to go up and left, the G29 is more straight back. The flatter trajectory of both the .357sig and the 10mm makes it more accurate at 25 yds. at 7 to 15 yards it may be a wash. The G27 is a fine weapon I own 2 but in my opinion having fired thousands of rounds from each platform I find the G29 in my opinion is superior to the G27 and delivers a more potent round. The only advantages of the G27 are conceal ability and ammo cost, If you load your own cost is about equal.
