I have read somewhere that someone was having problems with there Glock maybe because they didn't break it in right. What is the proper way to break in a Glock?

Glocks do not have a break in. They either work or they don't. I think "break in" is Kimbers excuse for poorly built guns that they don't want to fix.

The only Glock that requires a break-in at this time is the Gen4 G17, the rest are good to go right out of the box.

The breakin procedure for the Gen4 G17 is: don't clean out the orange grease, shoot 124 grain or higher for the first 150-200 rounds

FYI my Kimber has been 100% out of the box but only with Wilson mags, with the OEM Kimber mag it will stovepipe on the 2nd round of every mag

The HK P30 has a break-in process as well, that's a $850 pistol.

1. Oil as directed in the owner's manual
2. Fire 300 rounds of quality practice ammo, not some underpowered cheap stuff. This helps smooth out all moving metal parts.
3. Clean and oil as directed in the owner's manual.
4. Load up with the practice ammo of your choice and have fun. You are also now ready to test defensive ammo.

For defensive ammo, shoot 200 rounds of your preferred ammo without a hitch before you trust your life to it. If you experience any problems, try another choice (and another 200 rounds). Remember, it's your life that you wish to protect, so don't complain about cost.

Not all ammo is created equally. Today, nearly every ammo manufacturer has a line of reduced power ammo, which lowers costs and increases profit. That is sad, but that is life. Look at the published specs. Some makers print them on the box for your convenience.

By the way, it's my 1996 G19 w/71,000 rounds fired that has the incredibly smooth and light trigger.

Shoot it A LOT.

My g19 has not had a single problem whatsoever since purchasing it with over 2000 rounds through it and probably 30 different types of ammo. It eats everything I put in it beautifully.

The break-in process on a Glock is similar to an old 4 cylinder race motorcycle. Ride the piss out of it until it smokes, then do it again.
Oh yeah.

With both of my Glocks all I did was run the bore brush then a clean dry patch through the barrel to make sure the chamber and barrel were clear of any possible obstructions. Then I put a small drop of Hoppe's gun oil in each area that the Glock instruction manual tells you to. Then I shot 100-150 rounds out of each of them in the first range session. After the first range session, I came home and cleaned and re-lubed them.

At least 2,000 rounds through my two Glocks and I've never experienced a malfunction of any kind, ever.

For me I shoot 124gr Speer lawmen out of my G17 Gen4 and had 2 FTF the first day. My G22 Gen3 had 2 FTE with 180gr Speer lawmen the first time out. My G19 Gen3 has been flawless from day 1. All of my guns get cleaned with Ballistol and lubed with Gun Butter.
