Wilderness Instructor Belt - Now I get it

I just wanted to say that I broke down and bought a Wilderness Instructor Belt (black, 1.5", 5 stitch) just to see what the fuss was about. Ordered from gmstactical.com on the 11th and got it today the 13th (standard shipping). Bought from them vs straight from Wilderness due to being cheaper by a few dollars AND FREE shipping - total 42.95 shipped - not sure if thats the best deal out there but it seemed fair to me.

So far the belt is more than I expected it to be - I am by no means a rocket surgeon or anything but the thinness of the belt is remarkable considering the support being offered. I opened my package and was surprised at how light and thin it was from the onset - almost had some concern. I put it on thinking that there is no way that this thin belt is going to hold up my edc iwb let alone owb - it does

I really like the adjustments you can make... this may be especially usefull after lets say a visit to the local all you can eat place lol - and the fit will always be perfect. Carried my g30 iwb/owb and also g23 owb for a couple of hours each and again I am very happy with the support being offered.

Personally I sometimes have trouble with belts not having the adjustment I need for a perfect fit - I have to compromise in either direction. No longer.

If anyone out there is considering or on the fence - I think that this is a good belt for ccw and will be placing another order for a olive drab one shortly.

i wear the frequent flyer with the csm insert every day.

i also have a beltman super nice leather belt, but for edc i use the wilderness because i don't need something nice looking and the wilderness is very functional. I only use my beltman (velcro lined) for dress up occasions (rare) which require iwb covert dress.

I have a tan, 5-stitch original or whatever and I love it. I'm wanting to try a green one with the plastic insert too.

I agree that the instructor belt may not be what is considered light - but it is all about perspective. I tend to go with double layer leather belts with heavy duty buckle - so that does weigh a bit more than the instructor.

I still have my leather for formal events and for work (business casual) - but for cargos, jeans, and shorts this is my new favorite.

Let me ask you - has anyone had any issues with holster wear with the instructor belt? Any issues with metal clips rubbing thru or kydex causing to fray?

Thanks

I have the 5-stitch Frequent Flyer belt from Wilderness. I wear it everyday. I even wear it at work. ItÂ’s still in good shape. I think I might buy a spare one though.

A guy at the gun show told me if you send in the buckle, Wilderness will reuse it and it will save the buyer $10.00. I think I might have to check into that.:dunno:

Those looking for a cheap alternative to Wilderness can look at the Cabela's heavy duty last chance belt for $25 (do NOT get the light duty, its way too cheap). The Cabela's belt is made by Bison Products. It probably isn't as nice in detail or the buckle as strong as the Wilderness belt, but my Cabela's belt still is very stiff and comfy and sure beats my cheap Walmart belt hands down.

About six months ago, I was waiting in line to get into the Gun Show.
While I was waiting I was talking with a friend, when I over heard this guy behind me giving another guy advise about what kind of belt and holster works for CCW.

This guy is telling the other guy to get a good belt at Wal-Mart and a Uncle MikeÂ’s OWB holster like he has. I looked down at the pistol on his side and it stuck out way too much for me. It was a Beretta 92.

It always amazes me, a person will spend $800.00 on a handgun for CCW but does not want to spend a dime on the right equipment to carry it in concealment.

Good for you on willing to pay some cash for the right equipment.

Thanks - I have been using the cabelas double duty leather belt for years and am still very happy with it but just wanted tp try something a little lighter and thinner. I will have to check out the cabelas version today to see how it differs other than the buckle.

My new belt has been great so far. Not a single negative word to speak. Went to an all you can eat place last night for dinner with the family - very nice being able to loosen my belt at the table without drawing any unwanted attention lol.

working on a holster project and hope to have my first pics on gt posted this weekend of the belt and holster may be able to squeeze in a few of my wifes holster set up and her rig as well.

Dont get me wrong - I am about the bargain as well lol. Ok to be more accurate I am a shopper and live by the motto to always buy the best you can afford. tried the ultra cheap belts or just standard belts and never understood the importance until I started buying carry specific belts. night and day.

there are just too many options out there for people not to find something correct in thier price range or having to wait months to get a product.
