There is a whole Leisure section of the forum that includes hobbies and other things. You might start something there, in the hobby section. Are you looking at stocks? Raw materials? Trading? Collecting?

Maybe because investing in the commodities markets- whether it's grain or gold- is very serious business.
Websites like this are the VR version of sitting around at a barbershop and throwing out opinions.
When it comes to my investment portfolio, the same as when I buy investment-grade firearms, I choose to talk with educated professionals as opposed to the guys at the barbershop.

I've just always enjoyed talking about GUNS and GOLD. I used to belong to the Gold is Money forum but it's been shuttered. So, I've been looking for a new hang out. That forum was heavy on the gold, light on the guns. This one's the opposite and that's great. Was just wondering about PM specific area.

Hi, I'm William Devane...ya know our economy is going to hell in a hand basket and inflation is eating into the value of your money. So here's what we are gonna do to help you. Take you soon to be worthless money and send it to us and in return we will send you some soon to be incredibly valuable gold.

Alrighty then. LOL

Sad fact is most of GT members are cash strapped after paying cash for their 100 acre ranches, immaculate beige wall to wall carpet and numerous 1960 and 1970 collector item muscle cars.....and rare and highly desirable
firearms.

We ain't got money left to buy silver and gold.
Why do you think we post $1 bills in our pics???

Regarding survival what are you expecting in a SHTF scenario? Sooner or later people realize they can't eat PMs
Thats an interesting comment. I suppose there are different levels of SHTF. There's mad max level which you're talking about - ar-15 is the only pm you'll want (copper and lead notwithstanding); then there's the civil war / great depression / hyper inflation kind of thing where Gold may come in handy. and if people cant eat gold, they can always eat their neighbor - hence the AR 15 PM.

That never gets old.

If things are so bad you can't barter for things with freaking GOLD then you are not likely to have even survived that long. Not to mention that why do people that parrot "but you can't eat gold" assume you aren't fully prepped in other areas, like food?

This is true. But in the whole history of man, people have held gold and silver as valuable and have been willing to trade it for food and supplies. If you’re the only one(s) in an area then gold/silver is worthless as a commodity. But if you are in a community it might come in handy.

My question is, how do you spend gold? Most of it is in 1oz. Bullion, like a Kreugerrand. Last I looked an ounce of gold was almost $2,000. If the moron in chief follows through on this regulated digital currency he’s talking about, what’s the answer?

No, there are lots of smaller gold bars available, down to 1/2 gram.

Thanks. So what would one of those small bars be worth?
Try using division. In doing so, an ounce of gold is a troy ounce and not the ounce you learned in school. The layman's answer would be "not worth much" when most people can't identify gold, are afraid of counterfeit bars (I had a dummy secretary years ago who thought she and her husband got a good deal on a gold bar until it was assayed and turned out to be fake).
