Does anyone know why H&K stopped making the P7M8? It seems like a great gun, and is still much sought after (although very pricey). Just wondering why they would stop a successful line. Colt is still making the 1911's for example. Thanks in advance for your insights.

I'm waiting for the Scandium frame remake. :whistling:

Their production was causing steel prices to skyrocket.

Presumably because it is very expensive to both make and buy, and who would buy them in large enough quantities when you can buy a plastic gun with incredible reliability for 1/3 the cost ?

Who buys a $400 Swiss watch anymore when you can buy a $15 Timex that works as well or better ?

Having said that - I love the squeeze cocker design, and if they could have made this gun inexpensively like a Glock, they may well be ruling the handgun market right now instead of Glock.

or if the military trials to replace the 1911 werent rigged. the ONLY pistol to meet or exceed the requirements in phase one testing was the p7m13. it was not selected to advance for phase two testing.

Hmmmmm ... very interesting Majette!

I assume they figured out they had finally produced something that was innovative and useful and that didn't go along with their business model.

I exaggerate - it's not really that useful; the squeeze cocking promotes bad grip. However, it's still the coolest handgun ever to come from H&K.

I have no problem with their long guns - except that the G36 seems to be a collection of bad ideas stuck together.

Too expensive to manufacture. But, awesome example of handgun engineering; love mine.
