Sorry meant to say WHY does Ddr2 ram have to be so expensive :)

Whats really irritating is when you buy/build a computer and ram is at a normal price and then a year later it skyrockets when a new technology comes out. Makes me tempted to just buy a new motherboard/cpu instead of more ram some days.

Anyone have some DDR2 ram they want to get rid of cheap lol

Yes, how much do you need? I'll have to find it, but I have some NEW never used DDR2 that I got when I bought my DDR3 motherboard, thus having to by DDR3.

I think I have two 1G sticks, maybe more.

I'd think they aren't making any more DDR2 these days and probably haven't been for a while. I'd say that would have a lot to do with the price of things.

ETA:

I'm wondering what the price was that you were talking about?

I was looking at my newegg history just now. I bought 4 GB of Mushkin DDR2 in 2009 for $49.99, I bought an identical 4GB of Mushkin DDR2 in December for $47.99.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy. Was going to get some DDR2 RAM for the wifes laptop to bump it from 1GB to 4GB (even though it would only see 3GB) and was like, no thanks.

Ended up just buying a 4GB flash card for $5 or $10, stuck it in and turned Readyboost on.

So who needs DDR???

I just found 6 sticks, matched in pairs... sit down for the next line...

Each pair is 2ea 512Mg modules - Total 1Gb for the pair!

Finally found my 'overclocking' box!

If you are looking for AM2 X64 Athalons, lemme know... found 3 of those too!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Maybe I'll just try dropping them on OverClockers.com...

Went and checked at ExtremeOverClocking.com and found this thread:

I make no promises about the folks over there, but it's kind of like here - a community where sellers/buyers don't want to get a bad reputation...

$30 for 4Gb in 2Gb sticks sounds like what you are looking for...

Good Luck!

Everyone here nailed it. New RAM is expensive when it's first introduced, gets much cheaper as time goes by but gets expensive again when it's replacement is introduced due to slowing of the old RAM's production.

I got 2 x 1GB sticks of Corsair DDR2 Value RAM and a 2.4 GHz A64x2 if anyone is interested.

What do you consider expensive?

I'm looking at Newegg, and they have PNY 2gig DIMM's for $25. I dunno, that doesn't seem bad to me.

Edit: Nevermind, just checked DDR3 prices. Wow.. been a while since I've bought RAM. Guess when I rebuild my NAS, I'll be making sure the board takes DDR3.

Oh, wow I did just check DDR3 prices. Dirt cheap.

I don't really think DDR2 prices are so bad thou. Really they are about the same as they were several years ago. DDR3 is apparently stupid cheap thou.
