I always see "military" firearms in FDE, but I miss the old army green or ODG/army green. Are we always going to be fighting in the desert? Heck, I'd rather just have black than FDE, but that's just me. What do you think? Pick up to two (because a lot of people will just pick black, but I also want to know the preference between FDE and OD/army green.

Black goes with everything, but if it doesn’t, break out the rattle-cans for a mission-specific paint job.

ETA: I guess the same could be said of all the color choices, just make mine black. 😉

Honestly id take any of them but i do see some variation from time to time in the colors as some of the variations i would pass on. As a for instance all mine are black other than my BHP. ...but if they said hey sorry we dont have that model/make youre looking for in black but we have it in FDE or Green id not say no....

That also said...id NOT 100% NOT pay a premium for green or fde..if black, green and fde are same price..ok if blacks $500 and FDE and green are $535 black it is.....a different color on a frame or slide isnt something id pay extra for

I voted before reading, but I do smile every time I see the OP demand we read the first post.

I prefer black. I'm ok with FDE. Shades of green don't do much for me. The only example that I recall liking the looks of was the SA Marine Corps Operator, but that was just ok, not a favorite.

I voted black, but maybe in peacetime they should be bright yellow or orange. All of us who have been in knows what time talking about, when some idiot drops a pistol in the field, and the battalion can’t go home until you find it. Or maybe that was just a Marine Corps thing….

I was going to go the other way and have the injection molding layered such that the guns all ended up with color variation. Not a full "breakup" camo project, but enough variation to break up the lines of the gun. I have never understood the solid color choice. Even a black gun with green color will blend in better in a desert than either of them in just one color.

But I don't know how much any of this matters much for a handgun. And rifles used by folks like snipers will be modified to fit the locale anyway...

I will pick sand because sand in a forest probably would fit in better than green in a desert, but just because I have to select a button to choose!

Not into another color but black for my handguns. A silver slide can work, though.

When I read this question I thought of a firearm like an AK or AR with a black/gray receiver and barrel and furniture (forearm, buttstock, pistol grip) in either either the same shade or an earth tone such as Coyote Brown or Forest Green.

I voted FDE because I think a medium shade brown color is sorta universal; can work in the forest or jungle, can work in the desert, heck can even sorta work in urban environments.

Too me a totally black/gray rifle will stand out against the background of your camo uniform. It will stand out in the desert (against light beige background.)

My $00.02

Sure, while the rest of us are announcing personal preferences like someone browsing paint swatches at Home Depot, you have to go and be all logical and practical about it! 😉😁
