Due out in late October. The latest in the Mitch Rapp series.

I can't wait.

In the newest devastatingly intense thriller by #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon Vince Flynn, his deadly and charismatic hero Mitch Rapp wages a war against a new enemy with the help of a fellow soldier as dedicated and as lethal as they come.

Vince Flynn's thrillers, featuring counterterrorism operative Mitch Rapp, have dominated the imagination of readers everywhere. In them, Flynn has captured the secretive world of the fearless men and women, who, bound by duty, risk their lives in a covert war they must hide from even their own political leaders.

Now, Rapp and his protege, Mike Nash, may have met their match. The CIA has detected and intercepted two terrorist cells, but a third is feared to be on the loose. Led by a dangerous mastermind obsessed with becoming the leader of al-Qaeda, this determined and terrifying group is about to descend on America.

Rapp needs the best on this assignment, and Nash, who has served his government honorably for sixteen years first as an officer in the Marine Corps and then as an operative in an elite counterterrorism team run by Rapp is his choice. Together, they have made careers out of meeting violence with extreme violence and have never wavered in the fight against the jihadists and their culture of death. Both have fought the war on terrorism in secret without accolades or acknowledgment of their personal sacrifices. Both have been forced to lie to virtually every single person they care about, and both have soldiered on with the knowledge that their hard work and lethal tactics have saved thousands of lives.

But the political winds have changed in America, and certain leaders on Capitol Hill are pushing to have men like Rapp and Nash put back on a short leash. And then one spring afternoon in Washington, DC, everything changes.

Using his insider knowledge of intelligence agencies and the military, Flynn once again delivers an all-too-real portrayal of a war that is that is waged every day by a handful of brave, devoted souls. Smart, fast-paced, and jaw-droppingly realistic, Extreme Measures is the political thriller of our time.

I like Rapp as much as any one, but seems to me like he is about to jump the line and go rogue. He has been increasingly aggressive, violent, and frustrated with his leadership with each book. I thought the S.S. chick was gonna be his new squeeze and calm him down, but after sleeping with her she isn't mentioned again :p

I think having him go "off the reservation" or whatever term is hip these days would make for a more interesting plot that the typical Rapp stuff of "I wanna torture this guy and kill his boss" while spineless politicians hem and haw.

I'm shocked that the White House terrorist attack book hasn't been made into a movie yet. And for god's sake, can these guys NUMBER their books? With those totally generic titles, equally generic back cover plot blurbs, I can never tell if I have the latest book or skipped one.

Mitch Rapp is hard core! I can't wait for the next one.

I can't imagine how bad some liberals would get torqued if they ever read some of his books.

And, Term Limits is so hard core, I'm surprised Flynn isn't on the terrorist watch list for writing it.

I don't know who his tech checkers and consultants are, but I've read a lot of stuff in his books that I was surprised to see there. He's got a highly placed friend/fan somewhere. A lot more than Clancy ever had, and a lot more accurate.

I can't remember the title, but the one with the Tangos smugling the nuke up the potomac river? Part of it took place in my county with detailed descriptions of roads and a couple of landmarks. Unfortunately, Plum Point, which sounds like a lovely place in the book, is a real S*** hole! Our sheriff read the book, because he dug Flynn's others. It was a real surprise to him to see his agency, and a character with his job title! He got a big kick out of it.

Yall ever go over to thethirdoption.net ? Lots of info and posts by V.Flynn. I have been a Rapp fan since book number2 and a Flynn fan since "Term Limits". Always figured Rapp would hook up with Donatella again.

Here is the order of his books straight from his website

"What is the chronological order of your books?

Ok, so I my girlfriend bought "Extreme Measures" for me as a Christmas gift and I blew through it in about 3 hours. I love the Flynn books but, as usual, find myself waiting for Flynn to release the next one. I need ideas on other, similar, books to read in the meantime. I've read all of Clancy's stuff and think he's a complete jerk for ending his stuff after so clearly leaving "Teeth of the Tiger" open for a sequel. So help me out and recommend some other books for me.

Thanks!

I got it for Christmas and had finished reading it by the end of the day (making my wife mad in the process).

Seeing how mad a lot of people here get at the Patriot Act and the government, I wonder how many GTers see Rapp as the bad guy? There is very little he does in these books that I haven't heard people here complain about being done in real life.

Flynn recently sold the movie rights to his book series, but I bet Hollywood liberals just won't be able to resist changing Rapp to be more like their world view of things. And, then they'll wonder why the movies bomb.
