Glad to hear your report. One match (IDPA, USPSA whatever) to me teaches me more about a set up than 100 hours of research and 10 regular range trips where we only test what we’re comfortable with.

 

10 yds and in on a full size target is almost flash picture shooting isn’t it? Unless it’s a small target. Even then it’s easier to lay a dot on something than line up sights. Is it faster than just getting the gun up to the right spot? Depends on experience I suppose. Congrats on getting back in the swing of competition.

 

IDPA allows targets out to 30 yards.

 

Good for you for shooting a match. You learned more by doing that than 50 times at any square range.

 

Like anything else, a RDS takes time and many reps to get good with. It's a completely different animal compared to irons and there are pros and cons.

 

Did another one with my 17 with a Holosun. Did better, still towards the bottom. I am ok with slow but accurate.
I didn’t mean to imply the other was my first IDPA match. I used to shoot a lot of them. That was my first in carry optics.

 

Im with you. I’m more accurate with my Holosun but slower. I shoot mostly Steel but IDPA sometimes. Steel takes less thinking. LOL.
