Visited the Tisas 1911 web site today : Wow , quite the price increase for all 1911’s and double stacks ! Must be tarrif related ? No matter, Tisas is now not the same $$ value it once was (unfortunately) .

I only bought one, so far.. I bought the full size Service Model.. It’s been very good and good fitting, great finish, and shoots well.. Well it shot great when I got it, then I wanted to change out the extractor and it took a while to get it right. Then I changed a bunch parts with Colt government parts, and it took some tinkering, then I changed out springs until I got it where I wanted it to be..
It is now shooting great again and I had fun tinkering with it, an excellent gun for someone who wants to learn or customize a 1911 on their own..
There is a guy on the 1911forum that has done a few and working on another now. He does great work and he shows his progress as he goes.. Another excellent reason to buy one…

Normally I would say this is great advice. However, (and it’s a sample size of one) my Tisas has been 100% in both fuction and accuracy. It’s every bit as good in all practical measures as my Springfield TRP. It definitely isn’t up to snuff in fit and finish but it was also almost 1/10 the price.

Tariffs went to 15% recently. Is that the price difference?

Tisas Service models at their website are $540.99 MSRP. Local Dunham's sells them currently @ $379.99 and $329.99 when on sale. YMMV. tom.

They were more $ than I was willing to spend on them when they first came out. I'll admit they seem to be well liked. But my buddy who worked for Tisas as a sales rep, then all of a sudden wasn't really reminded me of the SCCY debacle.
